Have you found a lite ROM? Generally I find the XDA ROMs to be a bit more bloated than the stock because the developers tend to include all their favourite apps etc.
My TP2 slows every 3/4 weeks and a soft reset does the trick. Generally haven't had any problems with my current ROM.
What version are you using?
 
yeah disabling Manila usually fixes any speed issues. There are probably some bugs in it that slows the phone down eventually. You get used to the Standard WinMo screen after a while, it's worth the speed :) But so far so good on Cell Evo Pro

ROM 1.87.421.0 (67729)

It's the standard WM6.5 upgrade from Lab88.

I've not tried any, I'm not yet sure I'm willing to take the risk of bricking it...Soft reset used to do the trick once in a while, now I'm doing it once or twice a day...

Ah ok, I have the same version but it's not as troublesome.
I haven't tried to HardSPL my TP2 yet either, mostly cos I haven't had a need to. I know as soon as I do it, I'll be flashing ROM after ROM so I'm trying to contain myself :p
I'm sure it's a pretty safe process though and you can always lock the SPL again if you need to send your phone in for repairs under warranty.

I've been very tempted to but the lack of sound support & camera usage is off-putting...
I see the newset build has GPS working which is nice :)
I'm really looking foward to a full working build, then I'll definitely give it a go

I think it is harmless for trying it out as WM is still the system operator and Android is only installed on the Storage Card, if I understand it correctly? I might try it later today to see what it is like.

Yup that's right. Windows won't be affected at all. I think Android may just mess up your time settings but that's about it.
I'm a bit swamped at work today but I will try to get this running and give you guys some feedback

Ok so I couldn't contain myself any longer and got Android going. I'm running the 2.1 Sense version from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=627997
All I can say is WOW!

The interface is awesome. Clean & crisp and considering the fact that this version only runs on your RAM, it's pretty quick. It is laggy, but once things get cached, it works much faster.

The first time I ran the haret.exe, the Linux boot screen came up and my phone rebooted back into Windows (this will always happen when you reboot because this build on Android doesn't overwrite your Windows). The second time I ran it, it took quite a while with a few black screens inbetween that made me nervous.. But not to worry, it's still working.
When it eventually booted into Android, the bottom menu bar kept coming up on the right hand side. I rebooted and ran it again, this time everything was where it was meant to be.

So far, it isn't detecting any of my contacts. I'm not even sure I have any saved on the SIM so that may be the problem.
My internet doesn't seem to be working either but that might need some configuring.

This is a VERY early review. Once I get my internet working, I'll post back more info. But thus far, I'm very impressed with Android 2.1 and with this build.

Just a bit of a side note, apparently it helps to run a very light Windows ROM so that you have for free memory for Android. But since this build isn't something I'd keep for daily use, I won't be flashing my ROM.
