HTC Touch Pro 2 (Fortress)

Hmm what version is this? Did you HardSPL your device to be able to install this ROM?
I would've though only official SA ROMs would work without hardSPL

Hey Charlie

No I didn't hardSPL the phone. I imported my phone last year through Expansys, so I think it's actually a UK unit. When I type my serial in on the Uk subsite, I am able to download right away.

The file name is: RUU_Rhodium_S2_HTC_Europe_2.07.401.1_Radio_Rhodium_4.49.25.91_Signed_Ship

So far so good, it feels quite a bit faster than the original 6.5 ROM HTC released last year. Seems to take up less memory as well. However, the HTC task manager has been removed, but there is a larger Task Manager which is as good, but it not as quick to access. I see that the FM Radio application is now included by default as well.

My applications appear to be all running ok as well.

According to the info, this is Sense 2.5, which I think is very similar to the version that runs on the HD2. I've read that there have been a number of issues with this rom over on xda-developers, but so far I've had no issues.

Hope you get the upgrade soon, HTC really skinned the life out of Windows Mobile, to the result that the phone feels new and shiny again, with that wow factor.

Ah awesome, glad to here it's working smoothly :)
Apparently Duttys Task manager is pretty good, I get the impression it's the same as the one you would've had on the older 6.5 ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4857930&postcount=46

With Sense 2.5, I would assume you have the extra shortcuts on the home tab?
The buttons on the bottom of the screen.. Are they really big or the same as before? (the ones that access "Phone" and "Camera" on the home tab etc)

Do I need to have an account on the XDA forums to download that file? Won't let me download otherwise it seems.

Yeah, there are those extra shortcuts on the home tab, and if you flick the clock up there are more buttons to place shortcuts in. Also, at the bottom, Phone and Camera is now Phone and Menu. They are the same size as before. I'm going to try and get some software to take screenshots on the phone, and I will upload them here.

Awesome thanks :)
And yeah, you do need to sign up to download.
It's worthwhile though because there's always a lot of stuff to get from there.

As for screenshots, give this a try: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-shakeandsave.html

have a bit of a weird problem.... On the icon that shows you if you have sms's (it has a little bubble with the number of unread sms's), it constantly shows that i have one unread sms, which is impossible, as i emptied my whole sms/mms account. After deleting that, i went to the inbox, and it said "0 messages, 1 unread". Can someone please help.... this is driving me crazy....

I've never had this problem so I'm shooting fish in a barrel...

Could be that your Manila is confused. Have you tried to reboot?
When on the sms tab, press "All Messages" and check through all your folders (Inbox, Sent, Draft etc). Manila should only pick up messages in the Inbox but something may have gone haywire.

I tried rebooting everything. What happens is i go into all messages after deleting everything, and it show's a little (1) next to my inbox, but my inbox is empty.....

I've had this problem for about a week now, hoped it would go away eventually...

Does someone know where i can get covers, screen protectors, pouches etc for this phone?
Somewhere in JHB, or even on the net.

Everywhere that i go, i get the same answer: "No stock"

The included screen protector was useless for me. Any idea where I can get a proper one that sticks and that does not hamper the touch sensitivity? Already got a few scratches but don't want to let it get worse..

Exactly my issue..... it worked, but eventually the corners start lifting..... so looking for a pouch.... you get tons of those universal pouches, but non that are made specifically for this phone...

One of my best friends brought me a pack of screen protectors from the UK in March, and I'm on my 2nd one now. They are better than the included one, but are a bit of a pain to put on. I wish I did have a full body shield on the phone, a few weeks ago my phone was dropped off my lap onto tar paving, and got a small nick and scratch on the chrome of the phone. Luckily it's not very big, but it still irks me, knwing that it is there. Otherwise the phone is still going well, though the keyboard sometimes has a mind of it's own.

Concerning the latest ROM I have on it, it's going well, but it is a memory hog at times. The SMS subsystem is always slow, it seems to be a known issue with this ROM. I like the ROM, I just wish HTC had tuned it better. Then again I guess it was always meant for the HD2 rather than the TP2.

Yeah I found that turning off the threaded sms made things a lot quicker on mine.
I've emailed them a few times for feedback on when a 2.07 ROM will be available for SA but I haven't heard a word from them - not happy about that

I've been considering one of the XDA custom ROMs more and more these days...my TP2 has started to become quite slow and buggy and I have not added or removed any significant software in the past few weeks.
