HTC Touch Pro 2 (Fortress)

Charlie the Vodashop in Gateway in Durban says the Touch Pro 2 is not on their system but you got yours from Nashua Mobile who are Vodacom agents so surely they are mistaken here in Durban..
 
Mine was ordered in Johannesburg so I'm not too sure.

I don't always trust what those people say anyway, sometimes they're just too lazy to look. But I haven't seen it on their website either and that info is valid till 6th August... Weird that Vodacom wouldn't have it but Nashua Mobile would. Maybe they are a little slow.

Can the forum Vodacom rep please advise?

You don't *need* to void the warranty, but rather void it than not. The reason for this is the installation of HardSPL, that enables you to "recover" the phone, should something go wrong during the ROM flash (happened to me on my TyTN).

The ROMS that you get on xda are generally very stable (had my Diamond now for about 9 months and never had a stock standard ROM on it - about 4 different custom ROMS)

If something happens to your phone, that you need to take it in for repairs, you can flash the original SPL back onto it, followed by the stock ROM, Warranty in tact :)

Yeah I suppose so. I ran a lot of custom ROMS on my last phone, the ones on xda are quite stable.

But I'm really quite happy with my OS as it is, no need to change yet. I would consider setting up Android when it's successfully ported though :)

Man - wish Vodacom would get ass into gear - I already have all my software ready, GPS software, car monitoring software, office software, etc. - just no phone.
 
I called Vodacom today and they asked me if I wanted the Touch Diamond2 , followed by 'it has a sliding out keyboard'. Any chance that they're actually talking about the Pro2 and it's juts labeled wrong on their systems?

Possible... But to be sure I'd have a look at the actual box & handset before committing yourself to anything

Haha I can understand that feeling.
The info that xDISSENSIONx is getting is that they do have it, but it's possibly been incorrectly labeled on their system. LOL so they may have and not know themselves
 
I'm going to Canal Walk on Saturday to arrange my port to Vodacom :) I'll have to go to prepaid until they get this phone :(
 
Mods, can you please chance the title of this thread... "Fortress" is the AT&T name, the phone's actually called "Rhodium"

Well not entirely, apart from the 3.5mm headphone jack & the camera, they're both pretty much the same.
The appeal with this phone is the qwerty keyboard I would say. Well for me anyway
 
Ja the QWERT keyboard is what sells is for me too. If I wanted a purely touch phone with no keys of any kind I'd just go for the iPhone.

The Touch HD has a 5MP camera; a 3.5mm headphone jack and a radio :p

Had a bluetooth module installed in my car that lets me load different maps, e.g. so people can't abuse my engine- and I can't use it until I get a damn cellphone :(
