HTC Touch Pro 2 (Fortress)

Glad to see I'm not the only one waiting to get this phone.

So do share some details about the app you're writing!
 
Just something simple to retrieve various sensor information from the OBDII port - got a bluetooth unit that plugs into it on the way - and then transmits to the phone... I can then pick up and log sensor information, as well as calculate power output, torque, etc...
 
sounds awesome! I guess at least with windows mobile it's a little easier to get into creating your own applications unlike with the Nokias. It'll be my first WM device so I'm looking forward to it...but sadly I'll probably never get time to create anything for it anyway (well at least not finish anything I start...was kinda the same for me with the PSP).
 
You get quiet a bit of software that already does what I wanna do - but its about $150 - rather just write my own over a weekend.

I ordered this phone through Expansys on Friday, it's being imported from the UK. Supposedly a 10 working day turn around time. No matter what I did, I'd never get this on my current contract, and with MTN swallowing iTalk, things are likely to be even more confusing. Yeah it's expensive outright, but cheaper than a 2 year contract.

Anyway, after I saw this phone I knew it was to be for me. Somehow, Nokia no longer really works for me, maybe because the N80 soured it for me. It just seems that Nokia isn't really what it once was. Still good solid phones, but nothing that stops my breath.

It's a wonderful phone, and it certainly will make your heart skip a beat.
I do wish the battery life would've been better. But I suppose between Windows and the huge display, it's to be expected.

I hope Expansys delivers on your order though, I've seen numerous complaints about them :(

xradipx reckons they're doing some sort of testing... What kind of testin is beyond me though. I'm on Vodacom and it works :confused:

cellular provides generally test phones before making them available - standard practice I think - it doesn't mean if you get one before they're finished testing that it won't work on the network...


Spoke to VC and they said the 7th :)

although I just found my missing Tytn in the car :o

I hope it is the 7th but they might just be saying that because it's when the new deals are released.
 
Just spoke to Vodacom - the warehouse hasn't received the stock yet but on a Talk 500s package the pay-in would be R3799 - ouch.

Yeah I'm also due for an upgrade through Nashua. Basically they told me that I'll have to pay in R4k if I want the HTC Touch Pro 2 (also on the Talk 120s)...not quite sure I'm ready to fork that out but then again the extra R240 per month hardware subsidy would be R5760, so maybe it is better to just fork over the four big ones now instead?
 
I just don't want to find it being given away free on a weekender three months from now...but I guess that's just the downside of having new gadgets while they're still new (or somewhat new when you live in SA).
