Hi guys,

I have a friend who has this phone but the screen is cracked.
Where in Cape Town can one take this phone to be repaired and NOT be charged a arm and a leg?

Any good places?

Thanks!

Tell your friend he should save himself the trouble and not bother...

I spent over 3k on a TYTN II which also had a cracked screen. I had to drive from PTA to Fourways every time to hand in the phone because this was the only available service centre.

They were never able to properly repair the phone... I continued having touch screen problems, and had to send it back to them about 5 times. They would come back to me and say the problem is the backpanel pressing on the screen (or some other random excuse), and it would cost R500 to repair. After the repair they would promise that the phone is working 100%, so I drive to Fourways, only to switch it on in the store and immediately notice that the touch screen is not working correctly.

Try ordering a replacement screen on ebay then taking it to a electronic shop to fix?

Tell your friend to go to fixit.com
There they have full teardown manuals and part listings for most phones.
He can get the model number of the screen, buy it online, and with the help of the manuals from fixit (includes what tools to use, and where/how) - he can do it himself!

My brother did so for his Galaxy S - works perfectly !!!!! (screen was also faulty - weird stuff was going on).
:)
