Yeah its been noted earlier in this thread that the delay seems to be there for all applications except TomTom.
I mailed Mobitrak about the Handymap issues on TyTN II and got a response from them on the same day. I copy & paste their response here:
Dear Sir,
TyTn II GPS does not use standard protocol. It is using Qualcomm chipset, which is not main stream in GPS market. HandyMAP will release a version on Ai Gold for TyTn II user today. We will follow up a software for you. This new software will not work with other standard GPS system.
Please note HandyMAP core engine PaPaGO is official bundle software of TyTn II in HTC Asia.
Best regards,
MobiTrak Product Sales and Services Team
Yeah right. The TomTom version I use was released in January before the TyTn II was released. As far as I can see the TyTn II uses the standard NMEA protocol.
I had an issue a while back with HandyMap using the full SA map. It worked on an IPAQ with 64MB memory but reported a memory error on a 128MB PDA2K
I politely submit that the gentleman who replied to your e-mail is probably an outstanding purveyor of GPS related paraphernalia who may not fully comprehend their functioning.
Have you tried to use the GPS on your TyTN II without a SIM card in the device?

For the record, Mobitrack actually did follow up on the mail they sent me (my post above) and e-mailed me a link to updated Handymap software today. I am downloading it and will test it later today. I'll just check with them whether it is OK to share the link here...
But, then, it seems a TyTN-specific Handymap version has indeed been released today!![]()
As a sidenote, this is the second time I have mailed Mobitrak regarding a Handmap query and I'm quite impressed with their response. Especially following up with mailling the link the way they did.
