HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

ok i'm back!!!!

WHOO HOOOO

I fixed it.... repaired the ROM with the built-in loader

the 20min waiting period thing didn't help at all actually
but when i installed the Leaf version back on to it... it helped.... i remembered mr dotVIBE saying something about starting the unit up while holding the Power and the OK button at the top... that booted it up into the 3 colour mode - this can be seen in Windows - and the USB port then works.

When u do this - install the LEAF version on to it... which then attempts a repair which is the same as WM6... the WM6 one just didnt' work as well as the Leaf one did...

Anyway - i'm all back now :D

(WM6 as well lol - NEVER SAY DIE!!)

OK, registry tweaking 101

How to remove the XDA Live script from the Today screen:

start>programs

Open PHM reg editor
Scroll to \HKLM\Microsoft\Shell\DeviceBeta
Change the Value to anything you want or delete the today string to have no user text display on the today screen.

Power the device down by keeping in the power button.
Power up by pressing the power button again.

Ok i'm guessing i need to unlock something - but i get to HKLM, but i don't see Microsoft anywhere

Any advice?

good news dude, welcome back :D

I was lazy and decided to use the Leaf cab file to set up my GPRS and MMS. Big mistake, GPRS/3G works but MMS is bollocksed.

Is there any way of deleting all the settings to start from fresh ? (Other than hard reset)

When I try to enter the info manually it tells me that the connection already exists. There is no tab to view connections under work.

Go to the COMM manager. click on "data connection" (under wifi)

That disconnects the connection. now you can set up your MMS.

It still tunes me "A connection already exists with this name"

I am using the standard Windows Mobile setting that you or The Guy had posted on the VC thread some time ago. It worked before, but the VC Cab from Leaf does not do a good job of getting your MMS to work.

I see way to many APN's and MMS settings.

OK,

that's a different problem. You are on WM6 Right?

Go to messages, go to mms.

click menu>tools>options
click on MMS
click on servers tab
click on New

setup the MMS settings there, and make sure it is the default.

that help?

I sent a mail to Leaf ........ and they actually responded, within an hour with a solution that worked.

Will have a look to see if what you had any bearing.

Good day Francois,

Here is the manual procedure for getting your settings for MMS and GPRS (internet).

On your TyTN, please go to:

-start

-settings

-connections (tab at the bottom)

-connections

-advanced tab

-select networks

-change the top drop down to “my ISP”

-change the second drop down to “my work network”

-click "ok"

-click on tasks tab

-under the heading at the top (my ISP) select "manage existing connections"

-If there is no "manage existing connections", skip the next step

-click and hold on each the existing connections and select delete. Now click “ok”

-now select “new modem connection”

-enter a name for your connection: vodacom gprs

-select a modem: cellular line (GPRS, 3G).

NB! NOT cellular line! It must have GPRS in brackets!

-next

-Access point name: internet

-leave all fields blank (user name; password; domain)

-finish

GPRS is now set up.

Now for the MMS:

Under “my work network” select "manage existing connections"

If there is no “manage existing connections” skip the next step

-hold down your stylus on each of the existing connections and choose delete. Press on “ok”

-select “add new modem connection” (under my work network)

-name: vodacom mms

-password (leave blank):

-leave domain blank and click finish

-click “ok”

-now under "my work network" click "manage existing connections"

-choose the "proxy settings tab"

-there are 2 check boxes here. Make sure that the first one (this network connects to the internet) IS ticked, and the second one (this network uses a proxy...) is NOT ticked.

-click "ok" and exit settings

Now go to start then messaging

-there is a drop down box at the top left that should say “inbox or outbox” or what ever you were last viewing

-click on this drop down and choose MMS

-menu

-Tools

-options

-choose "accounts" (tab at the bottom)

-click on "MMS" in the box

-tick “retrieve messages immediately”

-Untick “download on home network only”

-tick “save sent messages”

-Untick “reject all messages”

-click server (tab at the bottom)

-click new

-server name: MMS Vodacom

-gateway: 196.6.128.6

-port number: 9201

-sever address: http://mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za

-connect via: MY WORK NETWORK

-sending size limitation: 250K

-WAP version: WAP 1.2

-click “ok”

-now, while "MMS Vodacom" is highlighted, click on "set as default"

-If there are other servers (not mms vodacom) in the list hold down your stylus on each one and select "delete".

-Send your self a test mms and see if it sends and receives it.

-also, test your internet capabilities by running internet explorer and browsing a page (eg. www.google.co.za)

that help?

I tried that ........ it would not allow me to create a setting for MMS.GPRS

My thinking is that the memory wipe when upgrading the ROM might not be as complete as we think. For some reason it still believes there is a setting called MMS.GPRS so it won't allow me to create one.

PS. It seems the Vodacom bloatware Cab from Leaf can be uninstalled as a program.

This below worked for me before, but only for the "Internet" this time around.

cool, thx man. ;)

Thanks for all the help dude. It was a lot easier than I imagined.

If one is organised then the process is fairly painless. Bring on the next ROM !

OK, so MMS is working ....... but something seems to be interfering with Internet APN.

When I open HTweakC 2.1 I see a few more connections than what should be there. See at least 6 connections, when there should only be 2. (I think)

Vodacom MMS
Internet APN
Internet.Dialup
MMS.Dialup
Internet.GPRS
MMS.GPRS

I have a HTweakC 2.1 installed on memory card before. I think it might be reading two sets of ini files ...... Is the version that auto installed with the new ROM integrated with the shell or a separate application ?

I don't see it under programs .......... only the folder on my memory card. I did not install it after the new WM6 ROM. It was in the start menu afterwards.

The HTC tweak is integrated, but should work the same as if it was installed as a separate app.

Gonna delete HTC tweak from memory card and see what happens.

Man this is weird ......... I just checked my storage card and everything has been deleted. I certainly did not do it. The respective folders are there, but all the data is missing.

Hold on, let me try a soft reset and see again.Mmmm it's all back again, must be some app misbehaving.

Keep getting the following when mail is sent or received " If you want to download MM messages then the active connection will be closed" or something like that. Bloody annoying.
