HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

Hi All.

I've recently had my phone stall while charging thru PC and charger and receiving a call.

Scenario:
USB to PC advanced option is set to ON.
Using Active Sync 4.1
AKU 3.3 Test (Happened with previous as well)
Radio Rom 1.27 etc.

When some one calls me my phone stall and I never actually receive any notification from my phone(ringing lights etc)

I've removed the tick for advanced connection and tested it with Active Sync connection and seems to have sorted that out. Will test it tonight with AC Charger.

Has anyone else seen this? Anyone willing to see if the same problem arises with there phone?

Tx

I have been experiencing problems getting a good voice signal and missed and dropped calls.

Called leaf and they said that teh network type must be changed from auto to GSM. Immediately I had a full strenght signal.

What they say is that the auto setting results in a "U" for UMTS and that voice calls try to then connect via the "3g" connection. Thsi is problematic if you are in an area where the 3G signal is not so great. However, if you want to now surf on 3G, you need to go back and change the setting to auto.....

Any comments...

Yeah, that doesn't sound right to me. Go to settings>phone>band

network type>GSM
GSM / UMTS band > GSM 900 (900+1800) + UMTS(2100)

Then you should be able to connect 3G while on GSM. No need to be WCDMA to utilise 3G.

I don't think. little help?

good question. How does the MTN fax to email thingy work? DD?

Are you talking about IMAIL?

If you send a fax to 08314 and the last nine digits it will force the fax to your voicemail and from your voicemail to IMAIL

e.g. 0831483******* and you've set up IMAIL via www.mtn.co.za and you've selected the notify me option then it will forward it to the email address you specified under the notify me option

Let me know if that's what you talking about?

Thanks MTNDD

you get a fax number ... when a fax is sent to the number it comes through to you as an e-mail ... www.faxplus.co.za

We only have IMAIL which is above and then you get enhanced fax and data and if you have a communicator or a fct device then it transfers to your inbox of your device but IMAIL has the option of if you fax something to your device the voicemail picks it up and forwards it to IMAIL on IMAIL you have the option called notify me which allows you to forward it to any email address you've also got a MMS option which will transfer the fax via MMS to the device but I wouldn't recommend that

okay ... fax to e-mail ... a fax gets sent ... it gets fed into a " Black Box " the " Black Box " then says sends you an e-mail with the fax as an attachement ..
the fax to e-mail service provider gives you a number which points to your e-mail address ... you can only receive though .. last time i checked ..

Are virus and firewall software available/needed?

And no one snoozes a reminder between 1 hour and a day?

What exactly is WCDMA? And when do u need it.... i've also had TERRRRRIBLY bad voice calls - and it's INCREDIBLY annoying to drop calls.... or try to speak to someone and they can't understand what you're saying because of voice quality.

Is this the official "Best setup" to have? GSM + GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100)

I also think my voice quality thru the CK-7 Nokia Car Kit is not quite good at all!!

Does anyone have this problem with the Tytn - when i search through my contacts even though i have a persons mobile number in some contacts it shows txt next to the number and even though this is the mobile number when i select the green dial button it does not dial the number because the first option for the phone automatically is to send an sms. In some cases on my phone I am able to dial directly from my list of contacts because I am seeing an m next to the number. My question is how do I change the order in which the numbers are displayed in the contact list on my phone - surely the mobile numebr should be displayed as default because it is a mobile phone and not the txt number.

From what I've seen it displays the action you last did on that contact. It is foolish that when you press the dial button it doesn't equate it to dial the mobile number. You have to select the contact and then choose call mobile is the only way around it I know.

OH and davidwza,

if you have a txt next to a contact - press the left/right key - then it changes from txt to mobile and to email etc

Great tip, thank you - what I have found is that if I scroll through my contacts and use the right and left key it retains these settings so I only have to do it once :D
