dotVIBE - does the xda ROM allow John Smith to be saved as John Smith and not Smith, John?

Glad I'm not the only one, thought I might have fudged the settings.

RE: Contacts - there is a drop down / toggle when you edit the contact to change the way it displays.

I just received a missed call from someone on the new XDA ROM... I clicked on menu, then saved it as a new contact - it popped up a window with the following fields:
First Name
Last Name
Number (with a selection of fields to save it as)

Anyway - it really annoyed me in the old rom where you couldn't save it as just John Smith!


On a slightly different topic ... an amazing new thing with the predictive text on the new ROM is that it remembers stuff from previous times you've typed. eg. I sent a message to friend:
(a) Hello I might be slightly late
then, later in the day it remembered what you wrote to friend (a) and when you start to type a similar message to friend (b) Hello I might be slightly late ....the words "might", "be", "slightly" and "late" automatically appeared after I typed the word before it....

basically it guesses what sentences you want to type for you....

very fancy!

quite happy I installed this rom...
now they must just get the voice recognition calling thing working again!

Glad you guys are are coming right with this ROM.

Expect XDA Live 0.20 on about Wednesday. A lot of bug fixes and extras will be included.

Yep, very nice, some guys have been using it on TyTn's and it works perfectly....

as long as you have a WM5 ROM.

Yup, not supported in WM6 yet. go figure.

Please provide a full path to the option. Or are you talking bout making the full contact name a first name
 
I can't find the toggle either. Looks like it is listed the way it is because it takes the full entered name as a surname.

Once you split the the full name into an actual first name and surname by editing the name, it lists it: surname comma first name.

bit too much of a mission to go through to change all the names in my contact. I blame the way my nokia synced with outlook.
 
I just changed the field by editing the contact. It's a bit of a k@k one, changed the most important ones and synced it on the fly with emoze.

The was no dropdown in WM5 to change it on the device, so WM6 is slightly better.

Unfortunately it is not bringing contact categories with ........
 
When you edit or create a contact the 6th field from the top is "File as".

Just click on the displayed name and you will get the option to change the display between first and last names...

Is that what you guys are talking about or am I echoing something already posted...? Sorry if I did...

Also has anyone ever seen an app that automatically adds SA public holidays (to Outolook or the TyTN).

In Outlook 2003. Go Options, Calendar Options and select Add Public Holidays. Select countires you like.

How is the 1.34 Radio Rom working out for you guys? Who would I need to persued to add the roms to the XDA FTP site or any other FTP site. Any ideas?

I need I site with resume.

The Radio ROMs are on the FTP site, methinks

ftp://xda:[email protected]/Hermes/Extracted_Radio_ROMs/

1.34 is fine, I don't really see a difference from 1.27

nice tip about the public holidays btw
