HTC Wildfire 2.2.1 Root experiences after or during HBoot downgrade

Hi I'm considering downgrading my HBoot 1.1.002 to 1.01.0001 to use the revolutionary tool to get S-off and root from there. Has anyone tried this method yet and did everything work after this downgrade eg. Receive and make calls, send messages and what not.

Flashing hboot will not affect your radio in any way, even downgrading.

BaD-RoBoT, Did you have to use the gold card method ?
I just want root access on my Wildfire, no custom rom needed. Will all my phones data remain after rooting ?
