Since no longer WFH, I decided to downgrade from 100mbps to 20mpbs in September.

1st October came and I received the expected 20mbps download speed thinking everything went smoothly. Checked my Afrihost dashboard and saw I'm on the 20mbps, which is enough for 2 TV's and maybe a laptop.

13th October I received a shock, I'm still billed for the 100mbps line when I'm on the 20mpbs package. A few chats and emails later I was assured Afrihost changed the package to 20mbps but failed to inform Vumatel to do the same. After a few speedtests and checks the support team promised I need to wait till the end of October and they'll get back to me with solutions.

1st November nothing, but this time I did receive the notice from Vumatel that I'm on the 20mbps line. A few phone calls, Whatsapp chats emails and I'm no where closer to the any answers

@Afrigirl @AfriNatic is this some sort of penalty Afrihost customers pay for having to downgrade?

The invoice the agents failed to explain, how a 20mbps package costs R897

I had the exact same issue with WebAfrica. Downgraded on 25 Oct, still billed full price in Nov. They said downgrades must be done before the 20th of each month to take affect.

Wow, did they at least credit you? What's the point downgrading your data plan if you're not sure if vuma downgrades your line? Why not give you the full speeds until then?

Fyi my downgrade was done earlier the month.

Morning, I am sorry for the inconvenience experienced. No there is no penalty fee for clients who downgrade. Please send a PM with your email address so I can have a look.
