HTC Wildfire 2.2 Root out yet?

Hi I've got the HTC Wildfire obviously but can't find any way of rooting 2.2 except using the xtc clip but I don't have the Money for that. Anyway I was wandering if anyone knows the status for the root at the monent? Or if there's a Temporary Root method?
Any comments welcome
 
I dont think Wildfire on 2.2 will ever be rooted, well unless HTC brings out an official update that unlocks the boot loader.
 
Sorry, did not know there were different versions of Wildfire, I have now read a bit on it and it seems like Elimentals is right on the money.

[highlight]Some people have downgraded to 2.1 and then rooted their phones[/highlight], but other than the clip nothing else seems to be working.

EDIT:
Since you cannot downgrade the hboot version this seems to be a no go as well.

On the downgrade, good luck trying to get a working gold card.
