E620 Earpiece + Voice calling + Old data cards

Hi there all,

Does anyone know if (and where) a seperate earpiece can be bought for a E620 datacard? I've been struggeling with MTN and Vodacom for info on this and apperently earpieces only come with the mtn data cards. Why I wouldn't know because voice dialing is IS POSSIBLE with the vodafone data card, but I couldn't speak or hear anything coz I got no earpiece. Antenna plugs in on the right and earpiece on the left of the card. (MTN and Voda cards are the same - Huawei)

I tested the Vodafone (Huawei E620) with the "CD2HOST01B113D01SP04C00(Normal with voice call)" [67mb] software available on the Huawei website below and it works 100%.
http://www.huawei.com/mobileweb/en/doc/list.do?type=-1&id=305

I would be nice to get hold of an earpiece or even a "compatible" earpiece from a different vendor.

The other thing I wanted to know is what happens to the old 3G cards that everyone is trading in now for the HSDPA cards ?

I also tested doing a balance with *100# with the Huawei software (using the keypad) on the dashboard without success. Would be cool though.

I am currently testing a vodafone (Huawei E620) card with a normal 16k perpaid SIM and the Huawei (with voice) software.

Once my Device manager is back I can see if we can sourse you a earpiece, have you tried the MTN dashboard with the Vodacom sim?

Thanks MTNDD. I am in the Brackenfell (Cape Town)area btw. Getting between 80 and 100 kb/s download. According to Telkom speed test site
my connection is connected at about 750kbps and avg dl is 80kb/s
(http://www.telkom.co.za/minisites/dsl/speed.html)

Yes I am using a Vadocom sim (on my Family Top Up-R135 package).

Tried my MTN sim in there but the Huawei software asks for a unlock code (8 digits) so I pressume this vodafone card is network locked. Some of the other vodafone data cards I tested at work with my mtn sim card worked and I could connect fine without changing ANY settings. That said I did use the normal VMC ver 6 software provided and I assume they could've been unlocked too.

Any idea where I can get the MTN dashboard software ? I don't know how different this software is to the Huawei software but I'm pretty happy with their software (seeing that I could actually download it for free of their site). MTN just has different front end but the software should in theory be the same.

Good day,

Sounds like you might have blocked your pin and it's looking for a PUK number if you PM me your number I can possibly help you with your PUK code

Please supply me with your Name, Surname and ID number.

MMMMM Well you say you in Cape Town - Would that be Western Cape, Eastern Cape. Sorry failed geography, maybe I can arrange with MTN Cape Town service centre to make a copy for you.

Let me know

MTNDD

yes Western Cape :) Nah it's not the PUK code because it asks for this code immediately .I Put the sim back in my phone and entered pin code and card works.

That's odd as none of the network cards from MTN's side are network locked

Vodacom Data cards are now all network locked

yep , since last week , all their data cards are locked

Well in that case I'm going to stick with MTN because the don't lock any of there devices and maybe this is Vodacom's way of locking people into there price plan???
