Ideally VoLTE will take over.

In fact VoLTE does work and is supported on the B618. Some networks don't do USSD on VoLTE but it works. That will probably be the replacement for it not to fall back to USSD.

The one you have seems to be hiding those divs. Not sure why it's called dhcp_arabic but just checked my B612-233 and it's much the same. The dhcp primary and secondary servers are hidden another way. I'd have to dig to see if it can be unhidden.

Has anyone found an easier way to configure the dns manually . My b618 router updated software and it is near impossible to find the line in the console to show dns. Does Anyone have a dns tool I can use to set it in the b618 router? Thank

Ok sorted, figured out how to filter for dhcp then use the drop down arrows to quickly click through till I find the dhcp=dns … Could we ask someone here to make a short 30 sec video on how to find and change the wording to “inline” . Many would not even know how to bring up the console window. Many thanks.
 
Just received an B618-65d for testing. A couple of questions:
Any tips to get the max use out of it?
Should it show 4G+ constantly? Mine only shows 4G.
Any trick to inserting the TS-9 connectors for an external antenna? I'm struggling a bit and don't want to damage anything.
What's the best bandwidth and channel to choose for 5GHz wifi. For some reason with auto selected it struggles to show up on my devices. Assuming another network is clashing with it.
 
Anyone had an issue with an Afrihost B618s-22d that won't save settings? My folks have one and it needs to be re-setup every time the power drops.

Which of the required alternative routers Afrihost require for Pure LTE, would you recommend?

For me the ZTE MF286C is performing very well on Telkom LTE. It has very limited functionality and info in the admin interface, but if you are looking for something that's plug in and go it could be a consideration.

Had that issue the other day. After applying aettings I spft rebooted it and the issue is gone now.
 
I currently use a B618-22d at home. Now i have a B311as with a vodacom sim that we use at our holiday home. I ordered an xpol-6 antenna to see if the stats improve at the holiday home. I was under the impression the B311as has the same 2 external antenna connections like the B315 but it only has one.

Would the xpol-6 work with only one cable connected to the router?
I am thinking maybe i should try them both at the site with and without the xpol-6 to see what's what.

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately all settings seem to be lost on restart/power cycle. Previously only the apn (the default APNs couldn't be deleted either) had to be reinput but I decided to reset the modem to see if that would solve the issue now it needs to be re-setup (WIFI etc) every time. I imagine there's an issue with actual modem so will be replacing it.

Long shot here... Any way of getting hold of firmware files for the 65d?

5ghz wireless has been a pain since I bought this particular router. It works well sometimes (for days on end), then it's range drops off suddenly and to pick it up, a device must sit right next to the router. There's nothing that I'm aware of that's interfering with it. Factory resets don't resolve and might very well be a hardware issue. Still, if I could at least give firmware reinstall a shot it'd put my mind at rest. Because it's a provider firmware, it's been impossible to track down.

I have the exact same issue, got a backup power supply from the China-man, must be a hardware error

I just started getting this. The system log contains the message "Read config data file error".

Anyone know where I can get a copy of the firmware? I assume that there would be a copy of the config file in the firmware.

I own the Poynting XPOL-6-10M Antenna which appeared to work well on my B315 LTE modem. The Antenna has 2x SMA connectors so I got 2x T9 to SMA-F adapters to connect it to this modem. I used the LTEWatch software to keep an eye on signal etc. while I did speed tests and got surprising results and wondered if anyone had experience with this modem and antenna combination...

Very odd but is it possible that this antenna is not suitable for LTE-A? Next I'm going to test with the modem outside where I have direct LOS to the Telkom tower (400m away).
I have a suspicion that the tower I'm pointing at is not necessarily the LTE-A variety... LTE-A may be handled by another tower in the neighbourhood. I'll have to move the router around and test.

*EDIT* It seems I am latching on to another tower occasionally. I'll have to keep an eye on that! The antenna may be OK if I can figure out where that b748-04 tower is.
*EDIT* After some tests it seems the router was in the best place possible in the house for signal which leads me to believe the external antenna is pointing at the right tower, but it's performing consistently better on internal antennas with the external antennas often peaking around 20mbps and internal has gone over 75Mbps.

What was the conclusion, did you end up using the external antenna or not? Did you try to shorten the cable?
 
Hi all, lightning hit my house today and fried everything on my network as the primary wiring that it found was my vast Ethernet network.

I’m replacing all of my switches and some Wi-Fi routers because they all fried, but I’m not sure what to get for my main LTE router on Telkom lte. I had the B618 and it was awesome.

What is the current equivalent (I think it’s cat6) that will replace it nicely?

A B818 is basically the replacement for the B618 - not sure about price and availability. B612 can work, but cannot aggregate different band like the B618.
