hi,
i have got the Huawei B618 LTE router, how to i change the wifi key pin,and is't possible to set temporary pin with capped daily data usage for other people.
Thanks

Hi,

On the bottom of your router you will see an IP address. Open a browser and type http://<IP address>
The admin logon details are below as well.
Once you logged the startup page will guide you to changing the wi-fi key and admin password.

Hope this helps..

Not sure about setting multiple caps for users as all connections use the same connection credentials. From what I saw you can only set 1 standard cap.

Don't be so Lazzy and tell us what you are trying to do, but for now I will say, you can't do, what I think you want to do.

I'm getting an unbranded router.

I'll see if I may borrow someone else's RAIN sim and then test it on the unbranded router.

Where are you located? If you're somewhere close to Kenilworth in Cape Town you can try mine.

FWIW, the one I got from RAIN didn't have any branding on it, it looks to me as though they've just sourced them from Digital Planet as part of some kind of a deal.

This thread probably belongs more under the RAIN LTE forum.

On that note, has anyone succeeded in getting custom firmware on a B618?
It belongs here. There are reports that Rain router are unlocked, nothing specific for Rain.

What do you want to achieve with custom firmware? While browsing Internet I noticed that these routers have Telnet port open. I don't have such router to verify this.

The firmware on the router is quite crippled. Compared with my ADSL router, the B618 can't e.g. assign a specific IP to a specific MAC, no traffic monitoring, no ability to restrict certain protocols or block certain ports AFAIK.

I'll have a look for a telnet port when I get back home tonight. Would be interesting to see what's there.

I'm in Jo'burg so that won't work.

I'll see when the router arrives.
And I have NO idea where the router is coming from.

I am unable to telnet or ssh to mine over lan...

It is common for all Huawei routers, they are very basic. As for the last two you may see it under "Special applications" and "Virtual server" like in B315s or can be enabled in "E5186 Toolbox", see below.

As for Telnet you may be able to enable it using Toolbox: https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showth...x-for-new-Huawei-HiLink-devices-(E5186-B315s) and also cross-brand firmware using techniques similar to: https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/899034-B315s-936-Debranding-Guide

If someone is willing to bring a router to me for a week, I would evaluate which known trick can be used on this router and maybe post some review. I stay in Johannesburg/Midrand area, on the farm near Diepsloot.
