Huawei Considers Rivals to Google's Android

YouTube music, sure... I have a huge collection of my own music which I can sync to my phone from my PC at home and can use Deezer or Spotify but I already have my music library of artists that I like within Youtube music so it would be a ball ache to have to recreate all that.

Of course they can...

But without the killer apps that are all over Google (many of which are US based, so wouldn't be allowed to do business with Huawei) the devices will sit on shelves and nobody would buy them

I wonder if this might be enough of an incentive for non-US based companies to start pushing their apps and services, and for users to therefore increase adoption. As you said, much of the killer-apps are US based.

Ultimately they can push as much as they want... it all depends on whether the consumers take them up...... and should a US tech giant buy them out, they would vanish....

but in China, where Huawei is from, dont they already have Biadu and Chinese versions of googles apps?
so why not simply make more versions for a Western market?

I mean Samsung does this, with its own in-house apps.
and again, whats the big deal, so you'll have to root your phone to get YouTube, sure many do it anyway.

And how much use do the Samsung apps get? and how many people want to root their phones to get features that are natively available on competing devices?

You sure about that? Why would Google have Waze and Google Maps competing with each other? (Genuine question)
Also, Google had a whole thing about a year ago where they were trying to match Waze's ability to measure traffic and direct people to alternative routes as well as Waze was doing it. I think there was actually a thread on MyBB about it. You saying that Waze uses Google's maps or both owned and developed by google or what? Please elaborate... I'm genuinely interested...

Excuse my misunderstanding of this acquisition - But why does Google not amalgamate the two into one good app, instead of having two different, free mapping services that do almost the same thing?

2x Advertising streams / money making avenues perhaps?
