Is Vodacom supplying this modem? I've asked a few shops at Tygervalley, but no
one can tell me. I've phoned Vodacom 155 / 1950 / 1959, but still no joy.

thanks

E172 modem is available now, but it seems limited stock. Got myself one and I must just say that it is fantastic. Gone are my headaches with the E220, I hated that thing. E172 much nicer. I would hurry though, not on the pricelists for October so deals are for stock in channel only I assume.

I will get it next month from my friend, he have bought several from Europe. I dont know that it can be use or not. Whether it need to modify some configuration in SA.

Not sure on that. The ones from Vodacom come preloaded with 9.3 Vodafone Mobile Connect Dashboard. I would assume that if you're using the Vodacom network your device would need to have software supported by the network. I'm also not 100% certain but I presume as long as the device is not network locked if it doesn't have software supported you may be able to install the 9.3 dashboard separately and disable the Huawei CD rom device under my devices and then use the 9.3 software. But like I said, I'm just guessing here, not tried it with another networks device so in theory it works but it practice it may not. Personally I would buy the device from the network I intend to use it on, far less complicated.

You can use it. If its from the UK then they are unlocked already.
The VMC Lite package is useable with most Vodafone companies including Vodacom.

I won a E172 today at work (the first thing I've won in ~20 years). Can't wait to try it out!

My employer got it from Nashua Mobile, but didn't tell us the price.
Does anybody know what the retail price for this thing is? (not contract)

This modem is available on some online auction sites such as bidorbuy. I bought mine there. Works great. My supplier got his stock from France but works perfectly regardless.:D:D:D:D:D:D
