Huawei E220 Mobile Connect software problem

E200 USB card

Talking about the E220 Datacard. May I ask a very intelligent question.

In the packaging there is two cables;
1 x USB to Mini USB
1 x Dual USB Loop to Mini USB

What is the purpose of the Dual USB Cable; is or extra Voltage?

I see the Data card works with both?

Not extra voltage, extra current. If you have a laptop or USB hub that can't supply enough current on a single port to power the E220 you can use the dual cable and draw enough current from two ports.

The solution

The error "Failed to load API DLL" happens when there are something wrong with one of or both of the following two files:

HostAPI.dll
HostAPI_AT.dll

Both files must be located in the Mobile Connect folder ( ...\huawei technologies\Mobile Connect ).

Check that these files are present. If not: reinstall Mobile Connect. If the two files are still missing after reinstall then copy the the two files from someone who does have a working Mobile Connect application installed.

If both files are present in the Mobile Connect folder and the error still occurres, then they may be corrupt. Reinstall Mobile Connect or delete HostAPI.dll and HostAPI_AT.dll and copy the two files from someone who does have a working Mobile Connect application installed.

Hi there, I have been having the same problem with my o2 (ireland) e220 running on xp. I have looked in the broadband folder for the 2 drivers you mentioned but can only find HostAPI.dll
I have gone to the store to get drivers from their folders but the only have HostAPI.dll, I could not find HostAPI_AT.dll anywhere. Is it possible to download it from the Huawei website?
