That sounds like your E220 is network locked and you have the incorrect SIM card inserted.Im using huawei e220 on Vista home premium, and im using it for "indosat 3g" at indonesia. the problem is i had the problem with vista (modem couldnt be detected), so i tried the 'workaround' method i found at this site, had success with it, mobile connect software detected my modem, but i still couldnt connect and it says something like "failed to connect. please check your wireless service or network connection settings".
Again, it sounds like you have the incorrect SIM inserted.Problem is, this mtn software wont let me to press 'connect' button,i think it was mainly due to 'card is invalid'.
No, the MTN software doesn't prevent you from using other networks, as long as you have the correct APN it should work.Question is, is it true that i couldnt use 'other than MTN' 3g service with the software because it is being prevented??
Normally you can download the E220 files directly from Huawei here. Unfortunately they are currently unavailable, not sure if this because of Vista upgrades, but hopefully they'll be back soon. And, I have a BIG problem here... the 'setup' files inside my modem now has been converted to MTN dashboard, and it seems that I am not able to access and change it like before.
