hi all i have two problems that i need to sort out maybe someone can help.

1st Problem is getting Windows 7 rtm 7600 to recorgnize the huawei e220 as modem vmc lite will not work, the one thats on the mounted cd drive when e220 plugged in to usb.

2nd. I have it running on xp sp3, but for some reason the speed will not go past 51kb/s . When i share the connection via wifi to a hp notebook, speeds peaks up to 300kb/s i dont understand whats limiting the speed.

Download VMCLite_E220_3_2_1_156_standard from Vodacom's Broadband Section and the instruction guide on how to update the modem.

Also download Firmware Upgrade 11.117.09.04.00 and update the modem's Firmware.

After that has completed, install the modem. Should work after that.

What light is the modem shining when you're connected?

Also install VMC 9.4. I know this has new Windows 7 drivers for almost all Vodafone modems. I'm not sure if VMC Lite 3.2 works on Windows 7, as I've never tested it.

i just sorted mine. i will post a new thread

My E220 occasionally suffers from random disconnects. I was able to narrow it down to the fact that the E220 gets extremely hot. If an aircon is not handy, I simply get a blue "freezer block" from the freezer, place it in a plastic container, and then the E220 on the block. Very low-tech, but it works :)

A while back some enterprising person went so far as to drill holes in the back cover (after taking it off first, of course).
