I wonder if the E270 is the same as the E272? The specs seem to be the same with the exception of the E272 having a external antenna connect on the bottom of the modem.

I also suspect that the VMC firmware for the E272 (V9.3) would work on both modems models.

It is alleged that the E272 needs the a firmware upgrade to work with a 64K SIM - VMC 9.3 for E272 & E170.

Thanks for any advance replies and solutions.

The lack of an external antenna on the E270 is the biggest difference I know about. Is it UPA-capable?

Best I've seen on my E272 is about 5200/1200. Obviously with the right profile.

Where did you hear the story about the firmware needed for the 64K? I've got a 64K SIM in my E272 and I've not upgraded any firmware.

Yes the E270 has the same spec as E272 HSUPA and all that stuff except for an external ant socket as seen on Huawei website.

The Vodacom4Me shop in my area has had two client's with this 64K SIM problem (The OS of PC is not known). When changed to 32K SIM all works or the client's had to visit a Vodacom 3G shop for firmware updates for the 64K SIM to work.

As a matter of interest I have downloaded OEM Huawei firmware for the E270 that will work like mothers milk instead of the Lactogen milk (VMC) in the bottle that always starts all the errors with these USB Modems.

Thanks for the interest and hope this helps.
