Hi All,

Anyone know if the Huawei E5776 would work in SA?

Ideally I would like to use it when I travel overseas as well as in SA.
Also I see that spec wise its better than the E589... any recommendations between the two besides specs?

It looks very nice. However focus on frequencies for particular model. Technical data from Huawei is not very specific, there is lack of any information on supported LTE frequencies and frequencies given for 3G can be dependent on the geographical market target or network provider.

I am using the E5776s - 601 from 8ta. I could use it across all SA network except Vodacom before firmware update..with the firmware update it now works accross all of them.

cool. Thanks for the responses. How much was it from 8ta, and how is the battery life? 8ta doesnt have LTE yet isnt it? I would like to 'futureproof' it, thats why I was looking at LTE models.

Yes, 8ta does run LTE. Check coverage map.
If you buy from 8ta you are sure that it works on 8ta LTE frequencies. It is very likely that it will also work on others: Voda, MTN. If you buy from others you should double check if it support TDD/2300MHz used by 8ta. Most likely it won't.

How is your speeds with the E5776 in your area, I also have one and I get 3 bars of signal on LTE and full on 3G, on LTE I used to get around 16Mbps dwn 7Mbps up latency is awesome 30ms and I'm not sure what happened now, speeds are much lower now to 8Mbps dwn and 6Mbps up, so now I'm using 3G getting around 12Mbps dwn and 3Mbps up...Maybe I should log a ticket with TM.

I am also getting three bars on 8ta, with download max 22mbps and upload around 7mbps max. lantency around 30ms..what site do you use to test?

If purchased from 8ta it will definitely work on 8ta LTE network but highly doubt that it will be able to access LTE on other networks example cellc, mtn, vodacom but be able to access 3G on those networks.
