Hi,

Yesterday afternoon my connection dropped and from then on all I get when I try to connect is and error "The SIM is not ready". I have tested the SIM in my cell and I am able to make a GPRS connection. I tested another PCMCIA card (extra USB ports) and the card worked. So there seem to be no problem with the SIM or with the laptop PCMCIA slot. When the HSDPA card is inserted Windows shows it in the device manager, so it is detected. Anyone have any ideas as to what can be wrong? I will try to have the card tested at a Vodacare shop today.

Thanks

The technician @ Vodacom 4U shop in Menlyn tested the card. He confirmed that the card has crashed. Card will be swapped out within 48HRS @ cost of R 57.00.

Interesting to note that at first the technician said that it is a driver problem and he needs my laptop to fix the problem. After I explained that I duel boot between Windows and Linux and that the card also failed under Linux and that Linux and Windows do not share the same driver did the technician agreed that there might be another problem.

I have a client who has the same problem. Doesn't work with multiple sims.
Finds it in the device manager, but does not connect, gives the "the sim is not ready" error too.
