Huawei HG659 router password after reset

Huawei HG659 is out of contract, no dongle attached. So free for my own usage.

After a hard reset, I cannot login, while connected to a standalone PC by ethernet cable.

Address is 10.0.0.254.

The userid pops up is either vodafone or vbn_cpe after a reset. I tried all known userid/passwords combinations, like 'blank', admin/admin, admin/vodafone (which once worked) vodafone/vodafone, vodafone/Vodafone.

Any tips?

Not sure what you are going to do, cause Vodacom is the only one with the password and afaik, they change it each month. You will have to get it connected, so that they can remote to it and create a username and password for you.

My Vodacom contract ends next month, then I'll face the same issue as gerard6. I went down the road previously of getting the temp user/pwd from Voda support, but ended up not being able to do what I had set out to do in the settings.

I need to know if I'm actually going to be able to use the HG659 on my network as I see fit, once Vodacom has released its hold on it? I tried the credentials supplied above and it didn't work, I'm guessing because my contract is still active.

Hi all, i need help desperately please ... i seem to have bricked my HG659 router (while trying to get passowrd and login etc.) (i know, don't say it!) ... so, i have searched online for many hours and cannot find a firmware (that works)... can someone PLEASE PLEASE log into their router (if you can), and go to the System Maitnenance tab and do a full backup and then send me that backup file ... and hopefully i can load it on my side (it should save as a bin file) that i can use. Thanks

I contacted Huawei, as I couldn't find the firmware for the HG659 on their website.

They referred me to:

..where I did a search:

Search

Search
consumer.huawei.com consumer.huawei.com

..which gave a result:


..which downloaded a 36.2 MB file named:

HG659-13 V100R001C195B021_South Africa_Vodacom_05021STU.rar

That is the South African Vodacom firmware for the HG659-13.
(The 13 is printed below the end of the barcode on the label on the back.)...
