I recieved an update notification a few months back that says I can use VoLTE, and downloaded it. Gave it a go and ... Nothing.

I chatted to Vodacom who enabled the card, so gave it a go and ... Nothing.

I was sent a list of compatible devices and the Huawei wasn't in it, so I have up. I now stumbled on the list and the Huawei is added. I tried again and ... Nothing.

I suspect it's the device. Although I recieved and downloaded the VoLTE firmware, there seems to be nothing in the menu that indicates it can do it.

Anyone else have it working?

If you on a popup contract or such you have to get them to disable international calls and then maybe if that doesn't work then talk to vodacomkyle on the vodacom forums

Thanks.

Standard contract and Ockie enabled VoLTE. I just can't understand why, as Vodacom themselves *test the device before approving it.

* That's the theory why we need to wait so long for updates ...

You are right, they did add Huawei models:

• Huawei P9
• Huawei P10
• Huawei P10 Plus
• Huawei Mate 10 Pro
• Huawei P20
• Huawei P20 Pro

My P10 Lite also got firmware update that states Volte is to be enabled in it, but no luck in getting it to work. I have tried everything. I have tried VodacomKyle and I have tried Huawei themselves. I have given up. It seems if you want flawless volte/vowifi to work then you have to either get Apple or Samsung.

Yea - tried my P9 and again, nothing.

But if I look on tutorials, there is supposed to be a setting in settings > mobile - that's not there for some reason. So that update didn't seem to add it.

I explained this to Huawei saying that even though the firmware that the phone updated to stipulated that Volte is being added (this was the first firmware update that took place after I switched the phone on), there is no switch in settings to actually enable it. Their answer was that there is not supposed to be....it is on by default and you cant switch it off. (I find that hard to believe as all phones that I know of has the option to either turn it on, or off) I have a feeling they dont actually know what the story is.

Agreed :(

Guy from Huawei phoned me now asking me to do a sim swop as a last ditch effort. He confirmed again that with the Vodacom/Vodafone firmware there is no option to turn it on or off. With the Vodafone Global standard it is turned on by default and cannot be turned off. Sim swop is in progress. I dont have high hopes though.

I have a feeling the guy from Huawei may not be correct in that there is no option to turn VoLTE on/off with the Vodacom/Vodafone firmware. That just doesn't make sense.

Anyway, I have a Cell C issued Huawei P20 Lite and there is an option to turn on/off both VoLTE (Telkom Mobile sim used) and WiFi Calling (Cell C sim used)

Brunette - are you able to post a screenshot, please?

I know the setting, but I'd like to show them a local version with the setting.

Hi Ockie

Please make a call to voicemail “press and hold 1” then take a screenshot while still in the call and upload it to this chat.
Thank you
Kind Regards
Huawei

Hi there. Sure thing.

Soon as call call is made or received....goes to 3g

I don't think they realise there is an issue. And I always hear that our delays in updates and because Vodacom thoroughly tests ... How did they miss this?

Dolby, I don't know if this is of any help to you. I have a mate 10 pro, vodacom branded. Although I have a Telkom SIM, I've had the option to turn on VoLTE. This since I got the device.

Thanks!

That is perfect ; that's what they need to see.

Every person I have spoken to at Huawei insists that there is not supposed to be a option to turn it on or off. They insist Vodafone firmware (Vodacom included) is on by default and cant be switched off. I think there is terrible confusion about their own phones firmware and features. WTF is going on.
