Huawei Mate 7

Quick question: Does firmware version REALLY matter when it comes to updating to MM? According to carbontesla.com, to install the B511 version of MM, the description says that you need to be running the B326 version of Lollipop. I've got the B329 version, and from my google attempts, it seems that I might need to downgrade back to kit kat first, then upgrade to HB326 and finally B511. Can anyone confirm if this is true? Not sure if there's a chance of bricking my phone if I use the wrong version ...

I first upgraded to 511 from 329 with no problems. The bigger issue is making sure you have the correct firmware for your phone (L09 or L10)

I've got the L09 witn B329, so hopefully the update goes without a hitch.

I got this info from Huawei yesterday.

Please open on below link to get the software update for Huawei Mate 7 Android 6.0:

http://consumer.huawei.com/za/support/index.htm

On the search bar please type the model code of the phone

Please download the firmware version written:

"MT7-L09C185B514 dual and single sim Android 6.0"

when doing a software upgrade:
You will need to backup all the data you have on the phone memory.
You must have an empty memory card
Download the update from the link provided, unzip the folder and send it to your memory card
Switch off the phone
Insert the memory card on your phone
Press and hold the power button ,volume up and volume down buttons for 15 seconds until you see an android menu
Use the volume down button to scroll then select “Update from SD” then select by using the power button.
Best Regards,

For some reason it just doesn't work.

I've downloaded the firmware from the link as provided in the email I received from you.
When I unzip the file, do I copy the folder MT7-LO9..... to the memory card or do I copy the
"Software" folder to the memory card?
I've tried both ways and both times I get
"Software install failed"
"Shutdown system now"

It also says: "There is no Update App"

No problem. I got it sorted out.

How?

I downloaded the B514 update, extracted and copied the dload folder into the root of my sd card, and updated through settings. Absolutely no issues, and now finally have MM on my Mate 7 :D

I need to find the right recovery then. Got M but still shows an update, update continually fails.
