Huawei P10 Lite

One thing I've found really annoying is, when I open the call log, and select an entry to call someone, the call does not get made automatically, but the number gets displayed on screen, and I still need to press the call button to initiate the call. Just to clarify, it opens the "Edit before call" screen when pressing on the call log entry.

On the P9 Lite (EMUI 5.0), pressing on a call log entry immediately dialed the number, so this extra step is rather tedious, since EMUI 5.1 is supposed to be "more intuitive".

Can anyone please confirm this behaviour? Is it just my firmware (WAS-LX1C02B120), or is this normal in EMUI 5.1?

EDIT: OK, I have no idea what changed, but it's working the way it should now.

EDIT2: Nope, it's back to doing it's crap again! Ugh! This is so frustrating!!

I've solved the problem! After doing a factory reset, restoring my backup, and still having the issue, I uninstalled each and every one of my apps, to check which app what causing it. It turns out it's my RCS+ messaging option that causes this bug! Disabling this option fixes the issue!

First of all, I noticed that I was able to make a call directly from the call log, immediately after a restart, but a few seconds later, it would go to the "Edit before call" screen, which made me realise that it had to be one of my apps that are loading in the background. Anyway, long story short, it's fixed now! I don't use RCS anyway, so I'll just keep it disabled until it gets fixed.
 
Can anyone who has the VC P10 lite tell me if it's got a 2nd sim option?
 
Wife is still very happy with her P10 Lite and the little I have played around with it, it is a decent device.

I still haven't upgraded and at this stage a better camera is the only reason why I would upgrade from my P9 Lite.

Pretty much beween P10 and S7 Edge if I do decided to sign on the dotted line. But think I'll wait for the latest specials month end.

Got one for the wife who was using a p8 lite before.

A very good phone for the price!
I particularly love how quick the fingerprint scanner is! a simple tap on the scanner unlocks the phone.
My S7 takes longer and you have to press the button.
Just disappointed in the camera which look like an upgrade over the p8 lite on paper but when comparing image quality, not so much.

Got one for my daughter on Friday R4199 from Loot. Takealot was R4159 on Tuesday, but went up to R4499 by Thursday.

All in all she is impressed, and from what I have seen, the rest of the family will also follow suit and ditch Samsung/HTC and Sony in the near future.

I also looked at those. The S7 Edge seems to be the better phone based on my needs.

Same. Actually holding out to see if the contract price on the S7 Edge doesn't drop a bit more with the new specials.

But at the same time I am a bit hesitant with the Samsungs. Had a brilliant experience with S2 but then the S3 and S4 gave me endless problems (screen, charging port, battery life).

Yeah you never know. At least the S7 has wireless charging should the port give up... But then the P10 has USB type C which uses a reversible connector so you cant put it in the wrong way around & damage it.

I ended up going with the S8 because the company is paying for the contract (R629 - Freeme 1GB with 100 x all network minutes and 300 Telkom minutes). IIRC Freeme 1GB with S7E contract did not give the added 100 all net minutes. Great phone & free wireless charger was a bonus.

Not a bad deal at all. And great phone indeed.

But yeah. I set my budget at R450 max for a phone per month and intend on sticking to that or lower.

You can also get a reversible MicroUSB cable.

Telkom only has the normal S7 advertised in their brochure and that's over your budget. Their website doesn't have any S7 variants listed as well.

I see they have the Mate 9 For R449.

Your other option is port to Vodacom, which I doubt you will, but consider it.
Vodacom has the S7 for R399 (uChoose Flexi R200) and R449( Smart S+)/ S7 Edge for R449(uChoose Flexi R200)

It was removed in the last few days.

They had the S7 Edge @ R499/month on FreeMe 1GB for ages.

I'll just check what the P10 comes in at with the next specials. Like I said I am only after a better camera at this stage. Performance wise the P9 Lite is already overkill for my usage.

Thanks. Will pass by the store to pick up a catalogue when we go weekly grocery shopping on Sunday.

Re porting. Free Telkom to Telkom calls are a great saving for our family. So porting not a viable option for now.
 
VC has the vanilla S7 now on special for R399 as part of their birthday celebration and the S7 edge for R449 on a uchoose package.
 
I have the p10 lite. and think its awesome! unless you are a power user/business kind of guy, it has alles wat jy nodig het. games at top resolution, battery life which is quite remarkable (I only have to charge every second day) and I am now officially NOT the worlds worst photographer anymore. takes pretty legit videos too. and all for R4199 at loot.co.za. well, it was that price when I got it. it comes with a clear cover and a screen protector, which I believe is more than the competition ever supplies. and its pretty!
