Huawei P20 Lite Dual SIM Not Dual SIM.

I recently bought a Huawei P20 Lite that came with a MTN SIM card. I bought it because it is a Dual SIM phone. Well that is not the case. Turns out only one SIM can work at a time because it only came with one IMEI number. Is there a way to activate the second SIM slot?
 
MTN doesn't sell dual-sim phones, they specifically ask the manufacturer to disable the second sim-slot both physically and in the software.

Maybe pm [MENTION=22896]proze[/MENTION], he might be able to help you. He offered to help with mine a long time ago but I decided to not do it.
 
Actually had to google phone notch to figure out what you talking about.... yep its strange stupid.
 
Thats weird, I got a Hauwei P20 Lite this weekend from Telkom, its running a Telkom sim and a vodacom sim, and it works just fine.

I can make and receive phone calls from both , and the primary sim is used for data , the secondary sim is limited to 2G.

Telkom and CellC gives you the functionality. The other operators are arseholes.

Telkom sell dual sim phones. MTN doesn't appear to.
 
What about Vodaskom?

The Vodacom Samsung J5 Prime ( the upgraded 2017 model I specifically bought ) my mother is meant to be dual sim but recently when trying to add a RAIN sim for her to use data only on, I noticed the second slot is for microSD not a sim! :mad:

Was it sold as a dual sim phone? Probably not. IMO if you want dual sim, don't ask the service providers. Buy direct from hardware sellers like Incredible, CNA, etc.

Hi I had the Samsung J5 (the previous model) on a Cell C contract. The sd card slots in above the one sim and I was able to use both sims and the sd card. Not sure if it changed on the new model.

Must have changed. So the *****ers added 0.5GB of RAM and removed dual sim capability w/out advertising as such,andhere I was fighting to get the last 2017 model for my mother.
Give with one hand, take with another.

P*sses me off when businesses act so unscrupulously.

I believe that the SD card slot can be used for a nano SIM in some models. Try it.
 
many phones have the option to insert either one of a second SIM or memory card in the secondary slot.

Edit: the SIM shouldn't require an adapter, but it does go in at 90 degrees to how the SD card would fit.
