Huawei P20 Lite goes official in China as nova 3e

Huawei P20 and P20 Pro are to be unveiled in a week, but their Lite sibling just can't wait that long. After going on pre-order last week, the phone's Chinese version dubbed Huawei nova 3e now saw its announcement.

So, the nova 3e a.k.a. P20 Lite packs a trendy 5.84" IPS LCD screen with a notch and 1080p resolution. The phone opts for a dual-glass design with a metal-frame, just as it was rumored.

The nova 3e runs on the familiar in-house Kirin 659 chipset with an octa-core A53 processor, Mali-T830 MP3 GPU, and 4GB of RAM.

One of the nova 3e highlights is the camera experience. There is a dual-cam setup on the back with a 16MP sensor behind f/2.2 lens and a secondary 2MP helper for background blur. At the front sits a 24MP selfie shooter (Sony IMX576) behind f/2.0 lens.

The nova 3e/P20 Lite has a fingerprint scanner on its back, an audio jack and offers FM radio. It is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery with fast-charging support.

Pre-orders have already started in China, while shipping begins on March 27. The available color options are Black, Blue, Gold, and Rose Gold. The 64GB model is priced at CNY 1,999 ($316), while the 128GB goes for CNY 2,199 ($348).

Huawei P20 Lite goes official, this time for real

Earlier today Huawei launched the P20 Lite as the Nova 3e in China and now, it's making the P20 Lite official in Europe too.

And it's only the second time the heavily-teased and leaked P20 Lite goes on sale in 6 days - you might recall it went on sale in Poland last week.

So OK, the Huawei P20 Lite is official and it comes in Klein Blue, Sakura Pink and Midnight Black. It has a 18:9 5.84-inch IPS LCD of 1080x2280px with a notch that houses the earpiece and 16MP front-facing camera.

There's an in-house Kirin 659 chip with 4GB of RAM and there are 64GB of built-in memory that are expandable through the microSD slot.

The Huawei P20 Lite packs a dual camera, consisting of a 2MP depth-sensing unit and a 16MP main snapper. The setup is made with portrait mode shots in mind.

To complete the tally of specs the Huawei P20 Lite has a 3,000mAh battery, fingerprint scanner on the back and runs Android 8.0 Oreo skinned with Huawei's in-house EMUI 8.0.

The Huawei P20 Lite starts at €369 and will gradually become available in retail stores across Europe by the end of the month.

Its around April from the road map i saw in our last meeting with them. They are looking to re enter the mid range space, and the lower ish end again.

They held their launch last night at the Grand Palais to launch the P20 and P20 pro.
 
Cellucity releases P20 lite Vodacom Contract Prices

After South Africa’s collective tech ears pricked yesterday at the news of the Huawei P20 Pro’s fairly modest prepaid pricing, retailer Cellucity is at it again this time divulging the phone’s contract pricing.

According to an email sent to Gearburn, Cellucity will offer all three P20 devices — that is, the Huawei P20 Lite (feature image), the Huawei P20, and the Huawei P20 Pro — on Vodacom contracts.

The damage is as follows:

Huawei P20 Lite — from R299 per month on a uChoose Flexi 120 contract

Huawei P20 — from R579 per month on a Smart S contract

Huawei P20 Pro — from R749 per month, also on a Smart S contract

The latter two offers will also include “a FREE P Smart with a uChoose Flexi 55 pm x 24 OR Huawei B618 LTE Router with 500MB data pm x 24 + EXTRA 1GB Data pm x 24,” Cellucity adds.

What about the other networks?

MTN is currently listing the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro for pre-order, but haven’t specified the pricing details yet.

Cell C hasn’t yet listed the device on its website, nor has Telkom.

Users looking to pre-order the device on prepaid can also look at Technomobi, listing the P20 Pro for R15 999.

Not bad seals from vodacom as it includes b618 or P smart.

Lets see what telkom comes back with.
