HUAWEI WiFi AX3

Hi All,

so I have rain external CPE, I recently added backup power to it now running it via the poe connector however when I plug my lan cable into it that runs to my AX3 the external cpe just switches off. I now use my huawei b525 and not a glitch however the speeds and latency I get is a bit off putting. I tried using the AX3 as a repeater however the makes it more worse than the b525. Any help would be appreciated.

Setup the CPE as a Bridge device so it pushes it’s WAN IP to the device connected on the LAN port.

You’ll drop the Access Point part of it but you can still get to it over the LAN IP if you need to.

The AX3 you setup as getting its WAN via DHCP and off you go.

So I can confirm it's definitely the DHCP Server that is required for the Meshing to work.

The moment you turn that on (or leave it on by default) then you can just run the cable as @Speedster advised and it just pairs and soldiers on without a hassle.

They much be using some special DHCPOption to do the configuration or detection.

After it's meshed you can happily turn the DHCP server off and use your own.
Good work! Glad it's working for you now

thanx will give it a try later.

Managed to get my wifi to work (but with some issues) and have the Router app installed on my phone. One thing that is odd, almost every day if I run the app there seems to be issues with the wifi and the current channel I am using (which is set to auto) has to be changed. I can optimise via the app. My question is why does this happen, if set to auto isn't the router supposed to use the best channel?

No it will most likely just pick between 1 or 2 predefined channels on these cheap routers.

It also depends on your surrounds. If there are other routers (neighbours) in the area this will influence the channel congestion, especially if their selection is set on auto too

on the box it says 921 vnx, i think this is one of the first Telkom routers, but it has far better wifi coverage than the Huawei router (which i was not expecting)

If you're on a PPPoE fibre provider it should work. Easiest would be to plug it in and try (just update the fibre authentication details on the router)

Anyone can help regarding HiLink , cannot get the AX3 and B316 to pair , want to use B316 to extend Wi-Fi network

How much more documentation do you want?

See post above

See post above

I’ve tried everything above , even see the HiLink network in the WiFi settings on my phone

App is convinced there’s no other HiLink router , cabling in just pairs the routers normally and not HiLink sharing network name

Pressing H button on the newly reset router just enables WPS (white flashing light)

Pressing H button on AX3 (Primary router) while secondary router is next to it does nothing

Not sure what else to do

Are you cabling to wan of the secondary router?

Also, are you using the default DHCP?
