Ok, probably the most asked question regarding hubbly...

Is smoking hubbly bad for you??

I'm not a cigarette smoker but I do enjoy smoking hubbly, I just want to make sure what exactly the effects of smoking hubbly would be?

On the hubbly note, any favorite flavors to suggest?

hubbly still has a bit of tar in, and if not, it'll have some other chemicals which are bad.

Apparently in a typical hubbly session you can inhale up to 100X the amount of smoke in a typical cigarette. So even if the hubbly isn't as bad as cigarettes per unit consumed, you generally consume a lot more per hubbly session than you do per cigarette. I do love my hubbly though.

I hope the above makes sense :)

Smoking ANYthing is bad for the lungs. It's smoking ferchrissake :p
I don't like hubblies because I don't know what they put in the tobacco to get those crazy flavors. Hubblies are strange though - ppl that normally wouldn't touch a cigarette have no problem hitting the hubbly.

That's because a hubbly actually tastes good whereas cigarettes just satisfy an addiction. I also find that generally a hubbly doesn't irritate the lungs much even if you take a nice lungfull of smoke and hold it (depends on the coal used and other factors of course).

Edit: But yes, your initial point is valid. A hubbly is not good for you.

Naa bro, as a smoker, i enjoy the taste of a good cigarette! honestly, unless the hubbo was made perfectly, is does quite better a decent ciggy in taste. As for the less irritating part, i dunno, i can smoke a ciggy with no problems and have been doing so for many ears, but hubbo just reeks havoc on my lungs, like if a smoke hubbo for 10 min, my lungs feel tight, and i struggle to breathe... then the next morning, i pretty much wheeze and my breathing becomes even more impaired :(.

It boils down to how much do you smoke a hubbly? In my case less than once a month, so it aint likely to give me cancer...

I've read up quite a bit on the subject, and from what I've found, it seems that it isn't actually the tobacco that is bad for you, but the chemicals that you would find in the coals. I mean, come on, with each puff you are kinda inhaling some carbon monoxide, not to mention other nasties. But that isn't gonna stop me.

It's definitely bad if you are sharing it with a group of people. Apparently germs/diseases are much more likely to spread and they get direct entry to your lungs. I don't know the details but there's a guy in the area that picked up some strange bug and is in a coma after smoking on a shared pipe. Of course there might have been contributing causes to his coma.

Hmmm. I gave up hubbly fairly recently.

I think it is bad for you, but perhaps not as bad as other stuff. I think mileage varies. I used to smoke quite a bit, but not feel it, whereas one of my friends always complained about it affecting his breathing when doing sports.

As for flavour recommendations, I always preferred mixing mint or lemon with something else like strawberry. I hated two apples, licorice and peach though.
