Huge DStv billing problems

Requested deactivation end July via self service. T didn't happen. Requested cancellation for end Aug. didn't happen.

The weird thing. We haven't been cut off yet after not paying for August. O well. I'm going to play the reactivation card

Ps. I don't do debit order with multi choice.

Common people grow a pair. Why do you tolerate these bullies. I admire the Americans, they at least have balls.

In which universe is it ok to blatantly overcharge a customer or charge them once service has been terminated?

The only reason why this happens is cos we allow them to treat us this way.

Take legal action

WTF are you on about?

This happened because of a massive system upgrade cockup....

You fail to see the bigger picture. You seem to possess the south african mentality : "screw me over as much as you want and i will just forgive you"

This isnt the first billing issue in South Africa and it wont be the last, if people dont change their attitude towards customer service.

Mtn, Cellc, webafrica and now dstv have experienced billing issues.

Mtn's billing issues are well documented and still continue(search hellopeter).

These companies have carte blanche on debit orders and customers generally struggle to rectify issues. This needs to be dealt on a CPA level and things have to change.

You might be ok with being treated badly but im not.

No Showmax for me after this mistake. Looks like I will have to go the Netflix route when they arrive locally.

I actually don't fail to see the bigger picture, but I don't go off my rocker or forgive companies for cocking up... I make sure they don't have access to my bank account via debit orders, and if I have alternative providers I move to them.

Yes all these companies have screwed up billing, but the main issue actually lies with the banks for still having such a lax debit order process that allows anyone to debit any amount off your account.

I almost forgot about this article.

I pay monthly by credit card using their online system to process the transaction. At the end of July, the balance due was R0. I contacted them and said that is wrong and I need to pay. They told me to wait. I did and enjoyed the whole of August with free DSTV Premium.

Last week, my balance was the normal R779 (DSTV Premium + access fee)which I paid. So it looks like I am going to get away with the free month. Their billing is always a clusterf$5k. Remove a decoder and add a new one and it takes weeks to fix the overbilling. My household has been warned that DSTV is on borrowed time in our house!

Same story with me. A free month. So far.

Years ago I had them claiming I owed money after I canceled my subscription. Asked for details. They never provided them but kept billing me. I wrote to them that as they could not provide details, they could not expect to get paid - that is the law. They went quiet.

A few years later my wife signed up. And pays each month with a credit card (mostly mine).

Never, ever, give these clowns a debit order on your account.

Loved reading all these comments, all seem to be against MultiChoice. It’s quite ironic that when there are billing problems it’s always in MultiChoice’s favour, never the subscriber. Glad to see that MultiChoice has no control over Mybroadband, because we would all be banned. It happened to me, I posted a negative comment on Multichoice’s face book page and a lot of disgruntled people agreed with my post with their comments. Well the very next day when I checked my post it and the comments were deleted, not only that I was banned from their face book page. So I can’t post, comment or even like anyone’s post. Well anyway F...K them hope they see their @SS one day, can’t come soon enough.

A semi-anti-DSTV article on MyBB?

Where is your God now?

So bank account details are kept in a database even after you cancel and tell them to f offf............... hmmm debit order debit order

Shoddy practices, isn't it? But worse than that, htf can the banks still allow debit orders to go off?
