This morning I was watching Hulu+ on my Roku 3 and suddenly got this attached pic pop up on my screen.

Anyone else seen this? Been using UnoTelly and Hulu+ for a while and this is a first.

Still able to access content so hopefully this is just a message that pops up from time to time but won't actually stop us accessing Hulu+.

Crap... hope they don't start clamping down on these services.

I prefer the paying for content instead of piracy - but I sure as hell would choose the latter over DSTV.

As I understand it DSTV has taken issue with their content providers about South Africans using VPNs to access services like Hulu\Netflix. The content providers seem to have taken hulu to task about this..........

I for one would possibly be more inclined to get my content via other means than by getting a DSTV subscription.

Best report this to UnoTelly.

It is probable that Hulu has identified your IP address [i.e. that you used to access Hulu] as belonging to UnoTelly, i.e. a proxy, hence the warning message.

UnoTelly will need to assign a different range of IP addresses.

Grr. I'm about to cancel DSTV, been using hulu with unotelly for two months and not had any issues yet.
If they do this, then I might rethink the DSTV thing...

I wouldn't get too upset - for UnoTelly it's part of the game .. :)

Much easier to complain to the providers than to even attempt to provide a competitive service.

Die, DSTV !!!

It says...

You appear to be using an anonymous proxy tool. You need to disable it to access Hulu.

You don't have to worry abut the message. I have received it once or twice but nothing in the last couple of months. All I did was open Hulu again and all worked perfectly again. Also you can try updating your unotelly IP (if you have configured in your router).

But long story short, it is nothing to worry about!

This thread was opened 8 hours ago on Hulu, might be a new implementation.

It would actually be interesting to contact them maybe anonymously and ask them about this and how to bypass this outside USA… You are a supporting customer, right? Maybe they can recommend their own Proxy…

Maybe I should hold off on getting myself a Roku then.
Looks like downloading is the way to go.

Probably only a matter of time before Netflix get pressured into doing the same :(

Thanks for the heads up ;)
So this device replaces your XBMC HTPC ?
Does sound like a lot less hassle.

Ye - lots of us use Roku devices now. They are the kingpin on the online streaming world IMO.
I used to have a Raspberry Pi running XMBC (OpenElec). That is up for sale now as it is in the cupboard. Roku is far simpler, zipper, intuitive, etc..

That is a plus. Thanks. Feeling a bit better about it now.
I have UnoHelper running on my media server to keep my IP updated.
After the warning, we were able to still stream, so ye - maybe just being paranoid.

I would still get the Roky. As mentioned above, it is UnoTelly's job to get around this.

If you google this proxy warning, you will see it has been about for a good few years now. So the guys we pay for our proxy services must just keep updating and getting around it. Minor hiccup I am sure.
