Cool thanks, i just looked at the pic you uploaded lol

Nutrifeed.png

Is it fish safe?

You are defeating the purpose of the entire system by trying to introduce nutrients in the fish water. You must just feed the fish and their waste is the nutrients for the plants.

That's my Understanding of it as well.

You guys are messing with my love of building things...

Are some of you making use of the water to grow fish, crawfish or whatever for eating purposes?

If I had more space I would definitely try an aquaponic setup with some fish.

Tis as simple as punching holes in a flat piece of styrafoam for the plants and floating that in an existing fishtank without any sort of filter, but just an airpump.Use cheap goldfish or guppies for your first run.;)

That definitely sounds like a plan :D I've seen some of the guys use this Styrofoam with one side being covered by a silver layer which keep it together. Any ideas where one could buy this...? (Styrofoam sheets is definitely not something I normally go looking for :D)

Erm, maybe they just wrapped it with foil or something similar?
Anyways i used to get polystyrene/styrafoam sheets at builders warehouse.Cheap like R20 for half meter x meter, but that was 3 years ago when i was building glass enclosures for my tarantula's.

Basically it looks like it was glued to the Styrofoam. But a normal one would suffice.

If anybody wants to learn more about Aquaponics, Dennis Kriel is running a course at House4Hack Centurion in October. He has been designing and running Aquaponics systems for years and is a very good teacher.

He will cover both the theory and then demonstrate how to build a system. You can also buy kits of his newest design that provide you all the components you will need.

The site is still a work in progress, but you can register via his Edentech website as well as get additional information about the courses there.

Bought this today and I think it's pretty cool. Now I should know exactly with how much I'm topping up my containers.

And over 10k posts finally!

Nice!
Price on that?

Errr was around R269 I think. Have used it a few times already and it works really well. It has an auto function which resets after 2 seconds of stoppage so if you fill up your tank once off then it works great. It also has one that can measure the daily and annual usage but you can of course reset those counters as well as you please.

I have used strings to tie mine up.

Gromet rgm25 is correct.

Contacted these guys today and I see they only seem to sell in quantities of a 100. If you're not going to use all 100 can I maybe make a pain of myself and buy some off you and pay for sapo shipping?
