Ok new question I need to go get 4gb ddr2 800 on monday , it will either be Hynix from Sahara or Transcend from Rectron - are their any diffs in this ram e.g. i've been told the Hynix cant be overclocked....

Any diff between these two:

JM800QLJ-1G R 169 Transcend® JetRam™ High-Performance 1GB DDR2-800 240-Pin Module : CL5, 4-Layer PC Board, Life-Time Warranty

128X64DDR2800 MEM 1024MB, 800Mhz, DDR2, 240-Pin Memory Module R 195

Thanks
J

I got Chaintech Apogee 800mhz easily overclocked to 1000mhz, going for 1200 :)
Go for the Transcend, better quality

Go for the Transcend if you can, if not get the hynix.
I can't see a differance in my own system between hynix & corsair xms..

Go for Transcend, never had any problems with their ram. Been using it for years now

Cheap enough! Damn! Buy both do a test program yourself and feed back here with a review. That way you will not just get biased opinions. If you were talking real performance ram then it is worth and discussion!

You get what you pay for.....

Same price, more or less the same performance....

The Hynix is already 5-5-5-12 (dunno 'bout the Transcend)
, so OC'ing it would indeed require you to lower the latencies.

why not be 4 gigs of kingston for like R100 more ?

ram is ram if you ask me

most DECENT ram will give you around % performance gain, if you feel this is worth it go for the more expensive

whatever you get though, put heatspreaders on it if they dont come with heatspreaders

Transcend purchase memory chips from major suppliers eg: Hynix, Samsung, Nanya, Qimonda.etc. Most of the expensive high speed OC Ram brands is doing the same like OCZ, Corsair, TeamEx....Select the best performance chips from supplier, branded with their own logo. Wala.....You pay double/triple the price for the 'performance'.

well if your going to overclock heatspreaders will be man

also the less heat put out by your ram the cooler your box will be

heatspreaders are like 50 bucks per stick, nothing to hectic

If they come with a lifetime warranty and one is not going to overclock then heatspreaders would not be any use even at R50. But I'm just guessing...

I don't follow. How do the spreaders keep the box cooler?
