Can't find a thread on this.

Thoughts on the 2015 2.5 diesel?

What pitfalls lie ahead? Found one with 75000km on the clock so it's checking all the boxes so far.

Petrol one is way too thirsty, diesel is the one to go for.

First obvious question is do you need such a big vehicle?

The 2.4 gasoline derivative is rather heavy on juice & can feel under-powered at the reef when fully laden.

The diesel is a better option in the long run but generally quite a substantial price jump over the petrol even on the 2nd hand market so again depends on your miles & cargo.

The VW T5 & T6 are obviously a damn good option for what it is & those motors are relatively frugal but they hold they value immensely well & they cost a pretty penny.

The Merc Vito & Viano is another option.

Two adults, 5 kids, luggage, and what if a kid wants to bring a friend with... We already have a 5008, and it's too small for longer trips. ( and a ds3, but that's just too small period)

Merc too expensive. What I mean it's for something newer than 2015, merc is too much.

R380k about the limit.

Price?

Have you seen what the T6 goes for? I was planning on getting one, not that that price, not a chance in hell :D

Found a 2017 T6 at a VW dealer for R384000 it's only got 35000km on it. It's only real problem is is the 75kw version. That said, I drove the 75kw one last week and I was very impressed.

That's not bad. I was more eluding to Price being a factor.

I was looking at buying a T6 about a year ago new. Was something like R 800k... no farking way in hell!

Oh ya. For sure. New those are insane. Although a new 250 viano is closing in on 1.5 million now.
 
Nice.
Seriously thinking about hiring one for a week away we're doing with another couple and their kid. Would be a nice drive with everyone together.

We're only a family of four though so as great as these vehicles are would be overkill for 98% of the time.
 
Nice. The diesel is definitely the better option here. Good power and better fuel consumption.
