I am furious!

I can get that when help is needed, to keep the ranting out of the post but everyone has the right to bitch and moan about a service they deem unsatisfactory, no?

Yes we have a right to moan, but how has this complaint benefited
a) the general forum community and
b) the OP
by simply ranting without looking for assistance?

If all you want is to blow off steam go visit hellopeter. There at least you get some hollow satisfaction in the knowledge that you are costing the company some extortion money for their presence on the site.

v3g and VCD are doing a fine job in a forum that is an unofficial support channel. People should keep that in mind.

Part of the whole reason MyBB exists is because of venting at Telkom ........ and others. If we take that away, what are we saying for the consumers out there?

It's brilliant that v3g and VCD are doing what they're doing, of their own time and all, but to attach a stipulation of not criticizing their company or they'll leave, just sounds like a threat and a threat which should not be bandied about on a site like MyBB.

Generally most people just want to rant and feel warm and fuzzy that they have spoken their mind. The solution to the problem is something entirely different.

I think the SA consumer in general still has a long way to go. We are quick to complain, but very few of them want to lift a finger to enact the change. How many have called ICASA, how many have written to DoC how many have taken to the streets in protest?

By all means if Vodacom or any company for that matter have messed up as is clearly the case with the SIM swap (given the details) then have a rant, but when you are done take a deep breath, hand over the details and give them the chance to made good on their mistakes.

If every thread started and ended with a rant and no resolution then this forum would simply become a wall of complaints and no progress.

This seems to have been a honest mistake...I too once worked in a store and made a very similar mistake. Did two contracts @ the same time...different clients. Handed them the phones and sims....the next day the one client phoned and shouted cause she tried to phone her son and got through to the other client instead. It was a horrible mistake but as soon as it was brought to my attention I corrected my error and apologized.

This however is not Vodacoms error if it was a store that did the sim swop. The store that did the sim swop would be responsible and should issue a new sim etc. Should the store not be willing to correct the error then Vodacom Customer Care should be contacted who will then query it with the store and find out why it is not being sorted out.

I'm sorry, but having a company representative responding to the guy's complaint with "What's your question?" rather than "Sir, sorry to hear about your problem. This is a genuine mistake by one of our shops. Please PM me your sim number and I'll see what I can do to fix the problem for you.", is, as I said, material. Yes ranting is annoying I agree, but seeing a response like that just takes the cake. You guys might be tired of the ranting, but switching to ignorant mode isn't going to bring down the price we pay for internet in this country - complaints will certainly contribute. After all, bringing down the cost and improving the service of telecommunications is one of the primary goals of MyBB, correct? Let the complaints FLOW!! I'd rather have no support than "I'm doing you a favour, address me properly" half-hearted support.

:D oodles of thumbs up to you!

OK well, be that is it may...i believe i answered the question in my post above. I realize this is not the clients fault and was most likely a slip of the finger by a outlet, but to minimize the inconvenience to myself and the delay, I would merely go into a store and get a new sim card. After that is done perhaps try to get reimburssed by the store that made the error. I believe a sim swop nowadays is R60.00.

And I'd rather complain in a rational way and have a support person that understands my problem on a technical level.

Ah, I'm back for my weekly saga because if it helps one person run away from Vodacom my work is done.

Now Vodacom deleted my line and put me in their pre-legal department for non payment/canceling a contract. Wait for it...........I'm on prepaid. I wish I had "non paid" the 1,700 rands I wasted on this 3g stick because this company is completely insane.

Hi Fashionaddict. Please can you PM either me or VodacomData your number, or both of us, as they say, two is better than one....so that we can perhaps have a look for you and see what is going on?

fashionaddictxox

I don't understand the problem please send me your number so i can investigate.

Thanks
VCD

Am waiting for a response as well.

Oc, was this on a contract before ?

Thanks
VCD

I have checked the prepaid number he supplied....all looks good on that one. Checked the account number he supplied and it is the cell number linked to that that is pre-legal. I explained to him in the PM why it is pre-legal.
