I just spent 500 rands in two days on data bundles and Vodacom your speed is practically dial-up. Frankly, I don't even know why we have to pay outrageous prices for data when I used to pay $50 for uncapped internet.

Sigh welcome to South Africa....

At R500 you could have bought at least 2GB worth of data, hard to burn that much data on dial-up in 2 days ;)

Did you check if your area had coverage before you went 3G? What are the results of tests at speed.vodacom.co.za?

And BTW: USA != RSA

Theres no way he could've used that much data in 2 days on a dial-up connection.

Looks like he's ranting more about the cost than the speed.

I have 3G coverage but it sure doesn't feel like 3G.

Speed test:
Download: 1040 kbps
Upload:752 kbps

Lol I know USA doesn't equal RSA. I thought we could hold hands and cry together about how much these companies are ripping SA off? At least that's what I needed lol ;)

It's a fresh wound. I must switch to a fixed line.

Yes like telling the government to sell it's Telkom shares, fast track unbundling of the local loop and kicking the DoC under is butt.

Ill be getting uncapped 3G/HSDPA (2mbs) for R155 in Manila... I was blown away at the pricing!

Now I have a real reason to be furious. I bought a gigabyte of data three days ago. Yesterday my internet stops working and I call customer care to find out that "I" got a replacement SIM card and I'm not the owner of my account. After talking to five different people, I find out that someone swapped SIMS and accidently typed my SIM number. For example my SIM card number is 123 and their number is 321 but they mistyped it. I thought there is usually a confirmation? But whatever. So they told me they can't do anything over the phone and I have to drive to the shop I got the USB stick from and they "should be able" to reimburse my 300 rands of data.......

Your question ?

Your question ?
How about who is the incompetent worker who would cause me such an inconvenience because now I don't have internet, made me lose the registration of my SIM card to some random person, and possibly lose 300 rands of my hard earned money?

I didn't have a question. I was saying now I have a real reason to be furious besides your exorbitant prices.

The guy is complaining, and rightfuly so. It's Vodacom's mistake, and now he has to go out of his way in his own time to sort the problem out. And then you respond with that?

Edit: fashionaddictxox, you're wasting your time being ripped off by HSDPA data costs. If you want something "SOMEWHERE" closer to home, apply for TelkomInternet DO3 ADSL. If you can't get it, opt for WiMax. 3G in this country is the biggest ripoff ever - it baffles my mind how ANYONE can be using the service. 500MB might have been useful in 1992

There is a difference between complaining simply for the sake of complaining and complaining while asking for help.

All the poster managed to do was have a rant about bad service and leave it at that. This forum is not the official Vodacom helpdesk, but they take active interest in helping people here when all other avenues (i.e. the official channels) fail them.

Personally I am really getting tired of all the complaints and whining. v3g and VCD really have helped out a lot of people. Keeping the ranting to a minimum and focusing on the details they need to help is what this forum should be used for IMO.

There used to be a time on this forum when people were sharing information and helping each other out, lately it's rant after rant and abuses at Vodacom. Persist at your own peril. If Vodacom decide to withdraw their support here we'll be left to deal with less technical minded pople on the helpdesk and watch the dust bowls roll over the plains (just like in the MTN forum).

I can get that when help is needed, to keep the ranting out of the post but everyone has the right to bitch and moan about a service they deem unsatisfactory, no?
