I am using ADSLUncapped now. Ask me anything ...

lol you guys crack me up :D

Nothing like some pure good humor

OK.. now test local torrents damnit !!!
Proudly South-African and wot not. :P

Yo hArTh,

Why the pings to local servers so bad in comparison to SAIX?

It doesnt seem to only affect SAIX game servers but also the MWEB game servers?

Can you please clarify, also where exactly did you get the account and how much. Is it available in Pretoria?

Forgot to ask, what is your ping to World of Warcraft like?

Or incase you dont have it and somebody else with the same service is reading this, pings to US WOW servers?

Thanks

ADSLUncapped, R900 pm (webafrica is cheaper), if you can get ADSL you can get uncapped ADSL.

Give me the WOW server ips and I will ping them.

As I am now uncapped again I can do SAIX vs UUNET international ping comparisons:

SAIX account:
cs.jolt.co.uk
Ping statistics for 195.149.21.9:
Packets: Sent = 41, Received = 41, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 425ms, Maximum = 443ms, Average = 433ms

UUNET account:
cs.jolt.co.uk
Ping statistics for 195.149.21.9:
Packets: Sent = 64, Received = 64, Lost = 0 (0% loss)
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 288ms, Maximum = 319ms, Average = 293ms

Wow quite a difference. As they both pass through SAT3 I take it that SAIX has a higher contension ratio than UUNET uncapped?

p2p speeds

Hey Harth,
How u getting those p2p speeds? I just got webafrica UUNet yesterday, and I can only get 2-3kb per connection :( . What ports and programs are u using?
Also WoW is totaly unplayable. 20000+ pings.
I am getting pretty much the same ping results as you. Http downloads are fine.
Dunno how happy I am with UUnet so far, for the price. Will wait and see, but with no deacent p2p downloads or int gaming I doubt I'll be buying a new account next month.

Thanks

Skippy.

I dont believe MyADSL should become a platform for promoting illegal uses of P2P so I have only one word for you: google.

:(

grrr... :)
Thanks for the reply.
Just one more questions. Are u getting deacent speads atm?
Just wondering cause Ive been reading posts, that UUnet may be having international problems currently.
I cant even update CS:Source over steam atm or play Wow.
The only damn thing that works is web browsing *whoohoo*
So far, I have been more impressed with telkoms dsl, except of course that you get capped in a day.
I would have thought that R. 1170 pm (Line rental + isp) would get you a deacent internet connection in this country, but I guess not.
Maby I should buy a new car instead :(

Why would you assume illegal? There are plenty of legal downloads on the p2p network - for example last night I was offered the choice of downloading America's Army from an official server via BT or via http. I've been seeing the option of downloading via bt quite a lot these days. Unfortunatly p2p via UUNET has been sub-par since I signed up yesterday - I'm hoping for a drastic improvement soon.

People who use BT to download legal stuff would know how to configure it to evade shaping.

Yes I am getting good speeds. One glitch though: Internet radio isnt working well ... lots of buffering. Odd considering the I can achieve full p2p speeds and full http speeds (with multi-segment downloads). This internet radio limitation is really annoying me.

I believe UUNET is being inundated with new clients. Instead of managing the upgrades gracefully they seem to wait until the complaints build up before opening the taps a little more.

Please enlighten me – I’m trying to d/l the pc version of America’s Army - I know – I should have d/l it via http as I did with the mac version last night but I’ve started this way so I might as well finish!

I contend that people who d/l illegal stuff would be more likely to know how to evade shaping.
