Could you explain a bit by what you mean with "lack of DRM"? Does Netflix require some form of DRM that's not supported outside of, say, an Android app?
 
A Chromecast would be the most efficient and cost effective alternative

Most/all previous OS builds for raspberry are drm free from what I understand.

The Pi actually does 720P HEVC on it's own but it can't do 1080P HEVC unless you use Plex and let the server do the heavy lifting.
 
Why not just go buy an Android TV Box. Has more features, hard decoding of x265(HEVC), and it probably around R100-R200 cheaper and you get a remote.

Why make an article for something that is more DIY. Or actually put there that it is a DIY project. There is already a consumer product that does the same thing for cheaper. If you are interested, google s905x as that chipset is cheap and available locally.
 
Got a Pi with Kodi 16 pre installed some time ago. How do I upgrade to Krypton without wiping my setup and starting over?

You could always get one 3d printed, then its your own design.

Thanx, I looked at that option and still busy exploring/researching it,however I don't think I'd be adept at all with these 3D printing software solutions, though I have pretty good idea about what I want to design.This site has been quite helpful. https://i.materialise.com/

This, I will wait till the raspberry pi 4, hopefully it will support x265 decoding. I have an old Core 2 duo pc is doing an excellent job for now, it easily plays X265 files. The only reason I would change is because the pi would use almost no power compared to the old beast.
