I built a home theatre PC using a Raspberry Pi

Does the Pi3 have enough power to use(run) and external hard drive (pic 4) with out using powered usb hub?

I followed all the steps but my GUI does not look the same.

Is there any easy way to change it, or am I not clicking on the right place?

The skin in the article is called Confluence, which is not automatically available in Kodi 17, you will have to download it.

Crap article because Staff writer changed the default skin of OSMC. Only the Lord above knows why. OSMC's skin is very beautiful.

EDIT: the OSMC OOBE setup will allow you to change it at the end.

I setup a system like this for myself, my reason for choosing Pi3 over an Android player solution was cos I like tinkering.. Android tv is great if you just wanna plug and play though.
Now if I ever upgrade, or just don't need the media setup anymore I still have a Pi3 that I can find other uses for.

Re the article, I dunno why 'NOOBS' is seen as a necessary step.. Why install NOOBS on the SD card just so it can download OSMC? I just downloaded OSMC directly and flashed it on the card.
