I built a home theatre PC using a Raspberry Pi

Connecting a media PC to your TV can help you watch and organise your favourite entertainment from the comfort of your living room.

Unless you plan on gaming or playing 4K content, a Raspberry Pi can the base of a cheap and powerful home theatre solution.

The inability to watch Netflix from the Pi is the biggest reason why I don't use on in my living room.

this is what I have been asking for for months.

thank you Kevin.

well written guide, and it is a much needed change. thank you for writing this.

as for the additional ad-on , yes there is no Netflix add on, but you can use Exodus.
it is free streaming, and yes it is illegal.

what I do is I pay for a Netflix subscription and Amazon TV, but I use neither option. I simply pay the content creators, via the service, and still use Exodus because honestly it is the easiest set up to do.

maybe one day, content providers will catch on.
if there was a netflix add on I would still use Exodus because I want international shows.
if there was a supersport add on I would still steam sport via illegal channels because supersport does not work reliably enough via streaming. the DSTV apps crash all the time.

Cost more than a android media player and lower specs ?

Would rather use a pi for something else.

There you go!

A pi has its place. As for a media player, there are cheaper, more suitable options.

So you pay Netflix but the websites that hosts the content you watch doesn't get a cent? That's nice. No wonder many links now force you to register your ip address.

and I go there, and leave it open and ad block off.
to be fair I only really use 2 of them...

Great! Been waiting for such an article from MyBB, and in my endevours of researching and actually building a NAS/Multimedia server I finally decided on the raspberry. However in my research I'm struggling to find a case that can house the pi and a 3.5" hard drive in a one aesthetically case that would do it justice in any home theater setup(like those android boxes).Anyone?

Would give him much more options (including games, netflix, plex and kodi)..

Does Netflix work on Android on the Pi?

I was under the impression that Netflix doesn't play nicely with ARM processors.

Problem was not the processor, it is lack of DRM. Running netflix on android should fix that.
