I got my Apple Iphone

YES YES :D finally Vodacom has delivered my Apple Iphone 3G 16GB (out of stock of the 8GB. I have to pay a extra R145pm). Now I have my Itunes account and connected the Wifi, 3G etc. I have DL many apps (Fring, Skype etc)

I have manually inputted all my contacts from my old phone into the Iphone at great pain, I dnt mind cause got rid of many unwanted people :D

Now the question beckons. TO JAILBREAK OR NOT TO JAILBREAK.

If I JAILBRAEK will I lose ALL THE CONTACTS?
WILL I LOSE ALL THE APPS I HAVE DL?

Current Firmware on the Iphone is 02.30.03

BTW I have DL the JAILBREAK Software, just want to make sure what the consequences will be of doing it.

And I wish to make a appeal to the MODS. Please PLEASE make the Iphone thread STICKY ;) so that the Growing numbers of Apple Iphone users don't need to search the entire forum to locate it.

That's why iPhone is crap. Why should you have to jailbreak it?

The same reason people use 'cooked roms' for Windows mobile phones, you have PlanetMotoX to 'modify' Motorola phones.....the list just goes on.

*My iPhone is not 'jailbroken' and it works perfectly, thank you. :)
 
With the new os due out soon (days?) I don't know if I would bother jailbreaking it at this stage.

Nor would I.

There's plenty of apps that you can download for free from iTunes and the MMS etc "issues" will be sorted next month.

OS 3.0 has a lot of new features that were lacking in OS 2.x which is why people jailbreaked. There will still be motivation to JB even with OS 3.0 if you want to use things like SBSettings and Winterboard for custom skins etc. There are also a number of developers who are getting tired of Apple's approval system that are choosing to release their apps in Cydia.

Mainly becuase the feature set on 3.0 is fairly complete I'd say.
Personally I could not use the device without SBSettings and I really am quite attached to my theme :o

Incidentally: this thread should maybe be closed in favour of keeping all of these posts in the iPhone tips/tricks/apps thread?
Does the OP knopw of the existence of that thread?
Most of your questions are answered there already. :)
