I hate ITunes

Very good post cerebus. Well put into context....

Regarding the N95 that was possibly the best Nokia phone ever made. I personally loved my N95 to bits...
It was a great phone for its time. Its just amazing how things have moved on. We can now get a 720P HD screen in the palm of our hands - just astonishing.

Have had endless problems with iTunes including music files gone missing, playlists disappearing and so on. I don't recommend it at all.

Wow....you really don't remember what smartphones were like back then do you? I remember seeing the iPhone video for the first time, I'd never even owned an iPod before but I just knew this was going to change everything.
...
So basically, you are wrong. Apple products sell because they are intensely desirable, not because there is a legion of Apple fans who will buy anything.
Excellent!

When you integrate new music into iTunes you have an option to either copy it or reference it in its current location. In the past I have had issues where I deleted the source i.e. forgot I had copied the music.

My recommendation will always be to copy everything to iTunes default store, and rather delete the source. If you want to store it somewhere else then rather change the location of the default store.

Of course I remember what smart phones were like :/

In my mind, I was a fairy early user with my Treo 680 and Treo 650. In fact, I wanted an iPhone when it initially came out - but the lack of 3G was a huge deal breaker for me.

To each his own, I guess :/

Me too re the Treos. On the iPhone, all I did was wait for the 3G, anyway before that there wasn't any 3rd party apps so less of an appeal for most.

Btw do you still need help with your iTunes?

Most people waited for the 3g. Apple delayed 3g because 3g chips still required a lot of juice at the time.

You see exactly the same thing now with "4G" LTE.

Oh the 1st gen iphone was missing a LOT of stuff. 3g, multitasking, a decent camera, Exchange, the whole apps store.... It was basically a very expensive toy. It was still 4 years ahead of anyone else from a UI UX pov, and it singlehandedly forced everyone else to transform their smqrtphone strategy.

Compared to most phones at the time it was still revolutionary... but yes it was limited, that we all agree upon.

iTunes can be erratic at times, but one gets quite used to it
I enjoy it for downloading podcasts and the coverflows that go with them :)

Functionality wise, i dont use it for more than downloading apps and podcasts and syncing my iPhone

On the other hand I hardly have any problems...

It's not good for hundreds of albums and sucks quite a bit of RAM, but it's a very useful application. I am addicted to smart playlists and all that that entails.

I don't profess to having the biggest collection -- but it handles my ~1200 albums very well, no issues.

I'm sitting with a 324gb strong music library and no complaints from me ether but then I have my library sorted by list rather than grid. There are about 60% of the album artwork/covers missing. Is that because 60% of my music library has been pirated?? :p

Either way there is little to no chance of me organizing album covers for all the missing one's. Yes, aesthetically it looks fantastic to have them but not having them has no functional consequences...

Whoa... Now I'm envious, except for maybe the ugly 60% ;)

Picked up my single biggest issue with iTunes when I did just that - extended the library to include a folder with thousands of sub-folders, all with organised mp3s of albums... [long story - but they are not illegal downloads!]... Some of them were obviously 'incomplete' for iTune's purposes, since I now have literally thousands of "Track 01's", "Track 02's", "Track 03's" etc...

All of them are listed as "Unknown Artist"... I've been ignoring them for a while now, but the pedantic in me is seriously freaked out about it... So much disorder!! :p

I'm hoping there's a better alternative than having to listen to each track, in an effort to identify it, and re-insert the details manually... :wtf:
