I finished a 17 day course of Radiation (10 day High dose on my face) on the 17th of December... Man was I unprepared for that... the whole of my mouth ended up being one huge ulcer type sore. My tongue,cheeks, lips, gums, throat..... not pleasant. Spent 4 days in hospital where they put on 3 drips (obviously could not eat). Was boring as hell!! Most of my mouth has healed up with the exception of the areas closest to where the tumor was. I got my taste back after a few weeks, but I cant eat anything acidic, sour or spicy ...burns the shyte out of me (even simple stuff like mayo & tomato sauce)

Radiation SUX!!!!!

Strongs dude, my mom went through it with her lung cancer. Just keep on keeping on.

Well thank god dude. Iv had this thing for like 2 years so it prob just fat or something :) Your lucky though...most people like me would just ignore it.
 
Hectic . scares the **** out of me - heard about this one guy who went to the doctor because of a sore leg, he was diagnosed with a type of brain cancer and given 45-days to live, he's under 40 and his wife is just pregnant - he lived 60-days.

I seriously cannot imagine myself in this situation... the story above still bugs me (he died a couple of weeks ago).

Cancer is scary as hell - and its affecting so many people these days.
 
Yeah, unbelievable how many people have it!!! Everyday the Radiation machine is fully booked for 12 hours a day... and they can do 4 people an hour.... to many preservatives and modified cr@p in our foods + the shyte we breath everyday in the air....
 
Yeah - I'd hate to hear I have two months left... :wtf: How do you handle that...what do you do.

I don't think I'd be able to accept it. Probably a good idea to go for a general check-up once a year.
 
Thanks for the update IRG. Good to hear you kicking this thing in the panty :p Cancer is a game breaker, no doubt!!! The human species has made massive progress in every sphere of life but cancer remains something of an enigma when it comes to an effective and side effect free treatment.

Huge strides being made with nanotechnology and treating cancer so lets hope the silver bullet will be manufactured soon...
 
So resurrecting this thread a bit, been following Wrathex's thread and her miraculous journey. Having been through a fraction of her battles, I say she is one in a million....

So Its two years later for me... I go for 6 monthly checkups now (next one in Sept). I have been 100% cancer free since finishing my treatment, and put on a good 20kg too (I'm like 114kg now - but 6'.5", so not like way fat). Side affects of the radiation still bugger me around, the left side of my mouth (inside) is permanently red, raw and sensitive. My muscles are pretty borked on that side of my face and neck. I have to do stretches and massages every day. I wake up to that "I slept skew neck pain" every day :( but I stretch it out in a warm shower. The massage is very important, I have to manually work the lymph fluids from my face and neck. Or else it would look like I was swollen. I cant open my mouth wide at all .... hamburgers have to be squashed flat or cut up ;) (lol ... cant fit a boob in my mouth any more ... just a nip ... heheh)

But WTF ... I am still here and kicking it in the panty! So all those who have read Wrathex's thread, know this, she is a tough one! Full respect for what she has accomplished!

Yip radiation damage is permanent .... have to maintain the massage and stretches for the rest of my life. Numbness of my face, neck, jaw and ear (all left side) is also permanent, damage to the nerves from surgery & radiation. Funniest thing is the bloody dry mouth syndrome... because I have no saliva glands on the left side that work anymore, parotid gland was removed, so when I get active (like wink, wink .. nudge, nudge) I have to take drink breaks .... a bit of a passion killer .... lol
 
Sorry to hear about the issues IRG but very happy to hear that you are still C free ...! :)
 
shame man IRG not nice. keeping you in my thoughts here. i'm also going through a carp time here. found out i have pagets. going to see specialist.
 
good to hear IRG - i notice you're still having "fun" - good on you. Celine, what's pagets?

edit: i googled it - you poor thing. hope the specialist visit goes well. pse keep us posted.
