I found it about 3 weeks ago, Just about 10cm under my left earlobe.... I Immediately went to my GP, She checked me out and said it could be an infection, but was not sure. Next Visit was my ENT (Been visiting him a lot this year, had a sinus Op done in Feb). He was not happy with it, but told me to monitor it for a week or so... A week goes bye, no change, back to ENT. Promply books me into Westville Hospital for Sonar and aspiration / biopsy (that was done Wed 28 July) It was lovely, stick a needle into my neck and then check again with the Sonar if its in correctly!! NO Anesthesia!!!

So come friday 30th and result are back... My ENT gives me a call at about 17:30, goes a little someting like this:

ENT: The results are not promising, the aspiration did not get a whole lot to work with, but what they did get showed some 'unusual' cells....

Me: Uhmm, ok... so now what?

ENT: As a last ditch effort to make 100 % sure its not bacterial you must go on a 5 day course of high dosage Antibiotics.

ME:OK...

ENT: Then by Friday if there is no change I have made an appointment with another ENT at St Augustines to prepare for removal of the lump...

ME: EISH!!!!

Well today I'm on my second last day on the anti biotics and no change....Now I am worried! Looks like I will be at the new ENT on Tuesday 10th of August :(

Not to worry you but antibiotics normally start working right away and you should see a change almost right away. Hope it's nothing hectic and get well soon man.

If there are unusual (I read that as malignent) cells I would be trying to cut it off myself. The sooner the better. Here's hoping the antibiotics sort it out though!

not all lumps are dangerous. It could just be damaged fat tissue (you have a thin layer under your skin over most of your body). But yes it is best that it gets removed whatever it is as even things that are not harmful now can potentially be harmful in the future

At least its in a favourable location where they don't need to cut too much to get to it. That will help make things go smoothly.

Strange thing is, it does not hurt at all... its just there!
Thats fairly normal. Don't touch it.

Sometimes one can do some (very) light surgery on ones own. This is not one of those times. Fck this up and the surgeon's chances of fixing the mess go from solid to questionable.

Sounds like a goiter... my mate had a goiter on his back, it was his buddy. They eventually cut it out and he was sad to see it go. :(

Sound like you got a new head growing out of your neck!

Two heads are better than one in anycase.

I have a song to cheer you up! :D

But I am worried, its part of my left Parotid gland and apparently some of the lymph nodes as well...

I had a lump in my ear it never bothered me just left (I am of the opinion if it don't hurt leave it ... I could have the wrong attitude)
anyway after couple of months it just disappeared. Hope your's disappears also :)

I would squeeze. Just in my nature.

Its kinda deep in there, and measures about 13mm in diameter, about the size of a marble. Almost what it feels like too!

Acne? I know it can cause large lumps under the skin around neck/face/back/ears etc. Sometimes are painful, sometimes not...
