I have an 8mbps line

friend of mine got 8x2 mbps telkom lines, for the last year now, was some pilot thing they had going if i'm not mistaking.
 
Telkom converting 4 to 8 mbps trial

two recent Saix alerts:
Failure Type : Planned Work
Status : In Progress
Problem Description : Software - Implementation of the 8 Meg trial. All current 4Meg custormers on the 4 Meg sync profile will be upgraded to the 8Meg sync profile.
Impact : Either increased service experience or degraded service due to line quality not supporting new sync profile.
Time Down : 2009-11-13 23:59
Time Up : 2009-11-16 00:00
Sites : Pretoria 4
Affected : ADSL users
Cause : Software upgrades
ETTR : > 24 Hours

So Pretoria 4, and Constantia Park IMAX were upgraded on 16 Nov. There may have been other Dslams upgraded. 4 mbps to 8 mpbs only
 
Us lower speed people better get something! The 4mb guys already had a free upgrade, damn them. ;)

Techrat, only the small capped accounts are being competitive, which are a complete ripp off to the customer and lowering that price marginely is not a price war, these stupid capped accounts should not exist at all, we must be one of the few places in the world that still use stupid capped packages, as for this 8mb upgrade, dont get your hopes up (but you knew that already) im not interested in 8mb/s, i just want a fair 4mb/s price

I dunno why everyone is complaining all 4mbit users WILL be bumped up to 8mbit sooner or later.
 
yr damm lucky i got a 4mb line, but due to telkoms excuses about the quality of the lines and copper and yada yada yada i only get a stable sync speed of 2mb if its higher the line drops the whole time and that causes issues with my ISp, i think telkom should first try and do a proper upgrade so that if u have a 4mb line that u get 4mb connection, what the use bumping up the line to 8mb if the users cant even get a typical 4mb then. Telkom should start pulling up their sox or start cuming down with their line rental's prices

Nice stats, its sad seeing a sync speed like that with such a nice noise margin. your line could easily handle 8mbps
 
only for PTA at the moment. Im sure some area in JHB will get bumped
