Ordered my line last week thursday and it is now wednesday and the telkom man is installing it

Dude, he is going to get there and find some problem, then claim to come back the next day. After a week of trying to find out where he is you will finally get someone else coming there only to find the same problem the first person did and he will also have to come back the next day.... see where im going with this?

I called for a line about a month ago. They pitched about within a week and said it is not their work to place the cable underground from the house to a Telkom box, so I had to get an electrician in to do that. Yesterday they called me for the four time to say that a technician will come and connect the line up and all that, the previous three times they just never pitched, so I don't have much hope for today...
I HATE Telkom!

Yes that is infact their job. Its the cabling divisions job to do that. It might not be the techie who connects the line to your phone jacks responsibility but its Telkoms.
I had to wait 11 months for their useless cabling division to put up the pole with the junction and then another 2 for them to pull the cable 15 metres through the manholes that were built for it.


Either way, they are useless.
 
Well just got back and it took the guy 30 minutes to install and my adsl is running.

Don't think this is a record but damn, friday, monday tueday, 3 working days to get adsl w00t w00t.

the trick is to tell them it is for business.
 
Killa that awesome dude, its a bit faster than my 9 month wait that I had :(

Do you stay in a complex, flat or cluster housing unit that has a governing body?

Find the right guy -- treat them well -- take him and his missus out to dinner or something. :)

I mean WHAT could be more important than having your ADSL WORKING ;):D

Lol, most people are just dumb when it come to the setup of your line and Telkom and all.


The trick is, just buy your own Router and set it up yourself.
I live quite far away from the city and it took me 6 hours to set up my ADSL since I ordered it.

Edit: And besides, if you have your own Router, you don't have to sign a contract.

Yep. I had the self-install option done in less than 24 hours
