my only major issue is...

-->> BBM <<--

:)

I guess until someone comes out with something that is true multi-platform and/or I can add current BBM users to it

guess Im android-less

:erm:

but then the current bbm users will have to install that... ie. have two chat programs running :erm:

sucks

Dude, if that is your only reason then I would say jump on the android gun. Most people I know use whatsapp anyway, even bb to bb friends.

(And I am a firm believer that BB has its place in RSA)

That's the problem, convincing the other BB users to install it and actually use it instead. Hopefully they've improved it since the last time I tried it.

BBM is not multiplatform. whatsapp is multiplatform.

Issue lies with BBM not the other apps.

Sucks for BB users. Besides if they set it up right everything appears in the same inbox as BBM and to Whatsapp a contact is no different. Plus it's BB, Apple, Android and Nokia.

well the question beckons....

why arent more ppl using this? its the first time Ive heard of it

Sheesh, I have about 30 people on my whatsapp contact list.. As has been said before a lot of my friends have bb's and they all use whatsapp now, bbm is dying/dead.

Non Blackberry users have been using whatsapp for a while now. Lots of Nokia and iPhone people use it. More recently Android. You probably haven't heard of it cause you been using BBM.

Whatsapp recently included group chat - so its on par with BBM now.

You also don't need to add anybody on WhatsApp, if they have it installed and you have their number on your phone, it's auto added.

Off-topic question, half of the people I have on whatsapp have uninstalled the application, but they still show on my list, any idea how to refresh the thing or whatever?

Its not because of the app, they complained about the battery drain which I don't see as a problem cause its minimal for me.

Half? :wtf:
anyway all you do is you go to settings and update your phonebook.

Drains my battery because it keeps the phone online all the time (the Nokia version anyway, not sure about the others). Even when I have closed the app it keeps the phone online and offers no way to disconnect from the internet. Even if Whatsapp is closed (exited, not just hidden) and I manually disconnect the internet, it just reconnects me again in the background. The only way to stop this is to uninstall whatsapp. This is the only real flaw, but I had to uninstall it because my battery kept dying.

oh. on my iphone the app can be completly closed and the messages come via push notification. then when you open the app it goes online and downloads the messages.
