I need a heater

If budget is tight, you will spend more on power with these cheap heaters.

Get an electric blanket and get under the covers.

If you really must, spend the extra upfront and get an infrared heater to cut the power usage down a bit...

how is this cutting power usage, its 2kW

Too much cold in my room, especially at night.

I'm thinking about buying this, not sure if it's a good idea.

My budget is literally tight.

Pick n Pay = R230
Checkers = R250

So you want to be the sole reason why we're back on loadshedding ... seriously dude, get a blanket :X3:

That's at the max setting, which will be too hot for most rooms.

At half power it's more than hot enough to be felt across a large living room. If you haven't tried an infrared heater, go test one at a store. It's nowhere near as inefficient as conventional heaters...

I'm feeling cold this winter. I haven't used a heater in past years, but recently got myself this gas heater, https://stargas.co.za/product/cadac-3-panel-heater/ it uses a 9kg bottle which should last for about 90 hours on the lowest heat setting. I've used it sparingly for 3 weeks now and I'm still on the first 9kg gas bottle.
Save it for loadshitting and get yourself the 800W IR quartz heater.

Electric blanket is 60watts, the end, if it's really cold gas heater, it is cheaper that electricity..........but on a tight budget electric blanket or water bottle can help a lot.....
Electric blanket ftw , best option

If you keep the room doors closed, a panel heater also works. At 550W for some models they're quite effective.
These are words from someone that has never experienced an IR heater before which even works on the porch in an 80km/h south easter.

I have tried it in store and wanted to get one, problem is I always thought it only heats line of sight and not the room.
Maybe I should look into it again and decide if it could meet my needs.

It is "line of sight" Even works through the glass of the french doors.

Anywhere the light touches warms up.

In other words, you can be stark naked 20m away and still "feel" the heat 30 secs after turning it on and be completely content being naked.

It doesn't heat the room, it heats the stuff in the room, including you, which is what you want. Adjust it to face you.

If you want to heat the room, an aircon wins for power efficiency...
